Gargoyles vs. Toxic Cloud

Unread postby ywhtptgtfo » 11 Jul 2009, 03:17

I was playing a game with a computer hero sieging my town at one point. Since I do not like to waste valuable troops and suspected the hero would not have AoE spells, I got myself 7 gargoyles and clumped them together (out of laziness). I was happily crushing the computer's troops for a 2 rounds with the phoenix spell and lost 1 gargoyle each time the lich shot at me. Then suddenly, the third time the lich attacked, he killed 4 stacks of the gargoyles in one shot which prompted me to reload. So, my question is: Aren't gargoyles immune to the area effect of a lich's attack?[/quote]

Totally arbitrary lack of immunities isn't unheard of in video games... might have been a balance issue...

I doubt, gargoyles aren't to strong and archliches aren't to weak

I think it's a bug as well

you're not seeing the forest because of the trees.... the individual match-up might not be imba, but the race one could...

Well, I kind like the undead better. At least the necros have some spellpower, instead of an unnecessary huge amount of knowlegde. And necromancy and raise dead really helps early game. Academy has some good troops (and some not so good) and artificier is cool. But thats about it.

I like necro a lot more then academy, in fact necro is one of my favorites while I hate academy the most

however I really don't think this is a balance issue just a bug, later in the game academy should allready be stronger then necro, I simply don't see how making gargoyles vulnerable to death cloud is going to balance anything

hmm well I think its a bug BUT maybe they should call it Destruction cloud and let it hurt everything :P

anyhow I do think the academy is like the antidote for undead since they have so much mechanical units and the titans are immune to pupet master and all
so when vampi tries to sucky sucky he ends up eating rocks or steel hehe B-)

Why do you think it's a bug? The spell's description specifically says that it affects non-undead. Gargoyles certainly fit the criteria.

I guess that must be the reason, It's just hard to imagine a stone who's hurt by a death cloud

Try hitting a unit next to a gargoyle with toxic cloud.
