it means precisely what it says..
and it makes deeper sense than any grammar-or-what-you-may-call it..

more literally: just because something is glittering, doesn't mean it's gold.
i.e. shiny things are sometimes not worth anything.

No it's fully optional ... you may rotate and zoom ... you may also set the old view ...

it's not grammatically correct, though, which makes it hard for us to understand it. It's not meant as an attack or whatever-you-may-call-it, but if it's not in english, don't be surprised or hurt that people don't understand it.

okay okay, this is way off-topic, though i'm sure it's perfectly understandable, but once again - the people want shiny grammar. :devious:

Dude, it's not about "shiny grammar". People who are not native-english speakers have a hard time to understand well-formed english in the first place, if you write ungrammatical things, don't expect them to understand you. And it's not THEIR fault.

then you don't have a clue.

we wouldn't have gone off-topic if you had turned your sentence into an english sentence instead of criticizing someone else's understanding of your badly formed sentence, and then proceeding on not accepting that you're the one who's plainly wrong here.

dude.

yeah, the ones who pollute forums are certainly not the ones who call others "idiots", you're right...

and where's vanity or pride? You were told your sentence was not correct and made no sense, but this is nowhere near an insult. It's a fact, you were not being criticized, you were being informed. But instead of accepting it like a grown-up, and admitting you were the one at fault, you insisted on telling him, then me, that your sentence was perfectly acceptable.
It was, and is, not, and with a bit of good will, you could have kept the discussion friendly.
But you resorted to the good ole insult.

EDIT; and what's with the rant about the "system"? Are you drunk ?

Anyway, it's "All that glistens is not gold, often have you heard this told." Shakespeare, the Merchant of Venice.
