HoMM.V tool

Unread postby Pesmontis » 21 Dec 2009, 00:36

I've put up some pics of my new tool for HoMM.V on heroescommunity, but I don't get too many reactions. Is there any interest in this kind of stuff? (see pics below).

Interesting, are you able to export/import to/from other 3D formats also?

Trust me, interest will increase when the tool is finished. It's just that the HoMM community has had a long and painful history of subsiding on screenshots of kickass projects without playable work ever being released.

Hey guys, nice of you to post.
.. able to export/import to/from other 3D formats..
Yes, the current version (v0.2a) can import HoMM.V meshes, SMD reference files, and Wavefront OBJ files. However, the tool does not yet do anything woth SMD or OBJ data, because it's an Alpha version.

(DL Archangel v0.2a here: http://tatooinebase.star-fleet.org/UPLO ... .Alpha.rar )
.. has had a long and painful history..
I'm sorry to hear that, I'll try & lift spirits a little :-)

Archangel v0.3 Beta release

Unread postby Pesmontis » 20 Mar 2010, 23:01

Archangel v0.3 Beta has been released, get it here:
http://tatooinebase.star-fleet.org/UPLO ... 3.Beta.rar

I've adapted this version to run on Win98se as well.

Some of the new features are:
- precise selection of bones and mesh parts;
- SMD reference file reading (including skeleton);
- OBJ file reading + automatic bone assignment (simple);
- exporting diffuse vertex colors as TGA files (see images);
- storeable user settings (to the registry and/or to an INI-file);
- simultaneous model and bones display;
- french language support (thanks to TSoD).

Further reading is available in the enclosed 'readme.txt'.

Manual

Unread postby Pesmontis » 02 Apr 2010, 17:32

I've put a manual on my website:
http://tatooinebase.star-fleet.org/Arch ... start.html
It contains some guidelines about using Archangel and 3DSmax.

This manual is also available as a Word document:
http://tatooinebase.star-fleet.org/UPLO ... manual.rar

The latest version of Archangel 0.3b can be downloaded here:
http://tatooinebase.star-fleet.org/UPLO ... .Beta3.rar

Anyway..

Unread postby Pesmontis » 18 Jun 2010, 23:34

.. version 0.4 of Archangel is pretty workable, since the success of importing a new mesh, a new skeleton, and a new animation from the Naga Myrmidon Warcraft III creature.

You can read about it here:
Warcraft III to HoMM.V Creature Conversion Guideline

At that page you can also read about the tools involved.

For the moment, this means that Archangel development is going into a maintenance phase, although there's things which aren't finished.
