I have played the complete Sir-Tech wizardry serrie(even some jap spin-off versions) & i like it very much.
I know the poll miss the spin-off's but these are the REAL wizardry games in my opinion.
So was wondering if there are any wizardry fans here???
And wat you liked about it?

I am a great fan of the Wizardry series, too. I played it moretimes single from VI to 8, VII with different endings, and then the combined trilogy, which I enjoyed very much (my chose). Afterwards I bought the "Ultimate Wizardry Archives" and tried beginning with part 1. But I lost patience and endurance for finish them up.

I beat 1,6,8. Of those I like 8 the best. 6 was good and more fun for me than 7. I lost patience with 7.

I enjoyed 7 the most- the first time I found a key treasure chest, and got the message "someone beat you to it" floored me- I think this was the first RPG I played where there really were NPCs with their own agendas, and working on the same quest (as opposed to the usual claims of such)

On a related note, I think I'd like to try some of the earlier Wizardry games sometime- does anyone know if/how to legally obtain them, and do they even run on modern (=Win XP or later) computers?

I had bought the 'ultimate wizardry archives'. They contain 1 through 7 with two versions of 7, regular and gold.

I ended up using my win 95 machine for most of them.

I didn't know about the spinoff games. What are the titles? And are they playable by gaijin like me?
Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

Yes, I have that. I was interested because someone wrote that it was more interesting than Wiz 8. Not true. A really laughable translation.

I played only Wiz 6 to 8 (and finished only 8) but I think that Wizardry 7 is the best part of these three.
It is difficult but also have more options like rivals NPC teams (why no one reapeat this idea in newer games?), (non)killable NPC (like some monk on river who after his death become ghost and attack party), large word with different lands (only MM series has same idea - or vice versa) or rival organizations (Umpati and T'Rang). Not to mention about import savegames from/to other parts of Savant trilogy.
As a interesting fact I can add that I bought Wizardry 8 only that it have Wizardry Gold with it - another way I searched to buy Wiz 7 and ended with thas package.

I do and I want to play it again. Unfortunately I have XP so no option to do that.

Wizardry I for me...played it on my Apple II+, and still have that machine just so that I can occasionally go back to the "original" feel of Wizardry!
