Rise of Nations

Anybody play this game? It is one of the best RTS games around, IMO (if you can tolerate the insane amount of micromanagement). I managed to beat a computer in the toughest difficulty once (and that is nearly impossible, thanks to the resource gathering bonus it gets).

An interesting game, but I didnt like it because it was a mesh of empire earth and civ.Personally,I find EE much better because it has much more techs and units, and far more interesting units. The only thing I liked in RoN was the increasing cost and the conquer the world game.

I highly enjoyed the game. The plot was decent and the 3 factions were quite unique. Plus the Clockwork Factory was pretty spiffy.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Oh, my mistake. The sequal, Legends, is definetely worth checking out. Much more enjoyable than Nations in my opinion.

Yup. That would be Rise of Legends, but I've never played myself either.
Maybe, I'll get it one of these days.

I rate Rise of Nations as an ideal spare half hour game, you can play a map in that time at normal settings and still win fairly easily.
It's also the only one of the "stone age to space age" games I enjoy, I usually lose interest after medieval times, I like my RTS games to be swords and bows types, I tend to lose interest when guns come along.

Ever been vanquished by the Japanese Bushi rush?

That one is rather pesky, IMO :disagree:.

Good thing I put up towers quickly. But, I haven't actually played in a while (so I'll probably be defeated by anything if I tried :D ).
