I miss the days when gameplay was more important.

as do many, the graphics are probably the least important part of a game .... I replay games like Star Control 2, Moo, Civ, and early Heroes games and the graphics aren't much chop, but I play them cause they are great games!!! I sincerely doubt this will happen with HV

I have pretty much forsaken battlenet these days but I still play single player. I use the red rune mod (changes all runes to red to make them easier to spot) and the rune word mod (which makes all rune words available in single player too.) I have considered using Pluggy, which would make the diablo clone and Pandemonium quests available in single player, but as of yet have not used it yet.

Hi,

Tnx in advance...

The Red Rune Mod and the Rune Word Mod can be found here:
http://www.twilightdesert.com/d2/mods.html
Installation instructions for installing those 2 mods are not exactly clear in the readme. Here is what you do:
1) Unzip the RRM and put the folder into your diablo folder
2) In that folder open the data, global, then excel folders
3) Place Runes.txt from the unziped RWM into the excel folder

Now delete difficultylevels.txt in data/global/excel to get rid of the reduced fire enchanted damage mod.

Now both RRM and RWM are installed and you need to create a shortcut to actually use them.
1) Open up your diablo 2 folder and find game.exe or Diablo II.exe
2) Right click and chose create shortcut from the menu that comes up
3) Drag the shortcut out to the desktop. Rename it if you wish.
4) Now right click on the shortcut you created and chose properties
5) In the "target" field put "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt
You will have to substitute your hard drive's letter for c if it is not c. You will have to change the path if you installed diablo 2 somewhere else.
6) Now in the "start in" field put "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\FE mod Redrunemod"

You are done. Use the shortcut to run both mods with Diablo 2.
Pluggy, which I have not used can be found at the Phrozen Keep:
http://phrozenkeep.it-point.com/

Be advised that from my understanding Pluggy does not do all that great a job of simulating the Ubers though you can get the ani charm from the world event and a torch from the Pandamonium event.

Edit: If you don't know about ATMA, it is a single player muling program that allows you to transfer items between your characters and can be found here:

http://atma.diabloii.net/download.shtml

For anyone who likes both Diablo and Neverwinter Nights, there is a really good mod called Lord of Terror. You have to get the hak packs for it to play properly. The mod incorporates the original music and sound effects, which is a treat for anybody who loved the Tristam's theme.

well, it would be crazy not to do one, since it is a bit of a cash cow, but they don't really need the cash this minute and are busy milking WoW, so it may be a when, but when??!!! :D

WoW.....don't get me started on that.....

I would assume that Diablo 3 would have to do with the world stone, or something...I really have no idea, lol.

WoW has it's own thread, but it's not for me ....

I don't think anyone has an idea about it actually, I know blizzard are able to keep things pretty tight when they are developing something, but I'd be awfully surprised if it's anything more then a coupla ideas on a drawing board

Well, from my readings, they've been working on "something" for the past year, but you could be right also, so who really knows.

The question is, how do you improve something that is damn near perfect?

FF seems to find ways of making perfect games better...so I don't see why diablo would be any different. I myself love diablo. Though I particularly liked the Cow Level (call me weird) anyhow, I do hope there is a 3 and I hope they do find a way of improving perfection.

Blizzard are just great... to me they are the best game developpers. I enjoyed all of their games... There's something special about them ... I don't know...I guess they are perfectionists... and that's a great quality when creating a game or anything to entertain people...

So I guess anything they do will turn out to be a great succes... and I too am looking forward to Diablo 3...
