Well, i believe that Painkiller is just a great hommage to the shooters of the past. It's realy neat to kill everything in sight, and in times like these where they want to make everything realistic as possible, it's nice to have a no brain shooter. The soundtrack is just awesome and really adds up to the game. Nothing beats killing rotten creatures with some great rock music!!!

Why do you thingk it's a second rate Serious Sam? It's really not...

lol, Painkiller is way better than Serious Sam, IMO. And the weapons are awesome, too, especially the Stake Gun, so awesome that F.E.A.R. devs decided to rip it off and put something very similar into their own game. :disagree:

Yeah, and with that game i once got stuck by using that gun. I nailed one to a ladder, a ladder that must be used for getting up, what was needed :disagree: . BUT, very nice gun indeed!

I find UT2004 to be a great fast-paced FPS .... not too much thinking, all reaction kind of fun! great weapons, alternate firing modes, ace levels ....

Too bad UT3 is a very demanding game. At this point, UT2004 is better than UT3, for me. I guess I'll have to wait a couple more years to properly enjoy UT3... :(

I have to go back with the old school UT. I'm talking about the FIRST one that came out on the PS1. Great score, good/great AI and all around good weapons.

The first UT on the pc is very nice. They screwwed up the sniperriffle in UT2004, that's a reason not to play it (for me)!!

Now, the original sniper rifle was fun, I'll give it that. But seriously, it was totally unbalanced! Getting headshots was quite easy, it was fast and the damage was insane, so it was pretty much the perfect camp weapon. Thankfully it was balanced in UT2004. Now if only getting headshots was a bit easier (just a bit!).

I liked the Redeemer. I remember having a Dr. Strangelove mod that would let me ride it while flying towards my victims.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

If you dislike the lightning gun and/or its weapon model (like me) you can always swap them with sniper rifles in UT2004. Sniper rifles are slightly weaker, but also slightly faster. They have a clearer zoom vision, and since they don't shoot visible lightning bolts, they make you less noticeable (they make some smoke though).

I play it at max settings on 1680X1050. Its not that resource demanding game (like Crysis) though and should scale nicely

Ít takes steps forwards as well as backwards when it comes to gameplay and improvements. I'm not sure where it stands compared to the other UT games at the moment.

the multiplayer first-person shooter will run best on a machine with a 2.4+ GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of system RAM, an NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ video card and 8 GB of hard drive space, running Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista.

Minimum system requirements for the game are a 2.0+ GHz single-core processor, 512 MB of system RAM, NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ video card and 8 GB of hard drive space.
