A game for fans of Might and Magic
A game for fans of Might and Magic
Hi all,
First post on this forum, but I thought I'd bring your attention to the indie project that I've been heading for the past 18 months with a team of 34 people to try and breathe life back into the classic RPGs of all, but with a new twist. The team is made of Might and Magic fans, and it has been a leading influence on the project from day 1.
The game is called Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox, and it is a grid-based, turn-based, first person fantasy RPG set in a procedurally generated, infinite world with infinite items, infinite weapons, infinite quest generation and dialogue from infinite NPCs.
We have a demo coming out around June/July this year, and the final version being released on December 21.
You can see a short gameplay video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMUGHzFT-eA
And there are heaps more videos of it on that channel.
You can follow the development blog for the project here:
http://swordofahkranox.blogspot.com/
You can see it in the IndieDB lists here (we were ranked #2 indie game out of over 5500 for a while there):

You can follow us on Facebook here:

And on Twitter here:

Anyway, thanks for reading! I hope Malevolence can bring you as much joy as Might and Magic!

For me it was Wolfenstein... gods, that was awful...Angelspit wrote: I remember having to lie down after long sessions of Doom II. It still happens with modern games using some engines.

Not problem with MM, Wizardry or others dungeon crawlers but happens to me with Dark Messiah, Dark Forces (but not Jedi Knight 1-3) or other FPS.ThunderTitan wrote:Am i the only one that gets nauseous from games like this when you're moving through those maze like tunnels?
The funny thing is that one day I can play these game without problems and in another Ican't play even 5 minutes before I am sick (of them).
Eh, could be worse. At least maps are a constant now in those kind of games, back in the day you'd have to draw them yourself and every wall looking the same didn't make it much easier.ThunderTitan wrote:Am i the only one that gets nauseous from games like this when you're moving through those maze like tunnels?

Ultima, Elder Scrolls and Might and Magic Veteran.
Does this game storyline have a cross between sci-fi and fantasy? If not, then it's not truly a game for fans of Might and Magic
Looks nice, though.

Make you strong places to dwell and practice the evil of your arts. Build great monuments to stand through the ages and remind your followers of the task with which you have been charged. Use these halls of iniquity to perpetrate your schemes against the infestation that has taken the fields and lakes of this land from you, their rightful masters. Never forget the hatred that must finally overcome and consume mankind. Dwell in your dungeons and brood. - Sheltem the Dark
