Torchlight, a game from the ppl that brought you Diablo 1n2

Unread postby ThunderTitan » 28 Oct 2009, 19:26

Been playing the demo from Steam, and man it's pretty addictive: http://www.torchlightgame.com/about/ too bad it's SP only... but they say they're gonna make a free MMO in the setting instead of MP...

Go get it...

I'll give them a bit of time to put out a first patch before I pick it up but the videos look great. :) I don't buy many games immediately anymore.

I downloaded the game, and playing it now.
It's nice, but really doesn't have anything new.
very much like diablo2 including the same monsters (spiders, flying bats, those little annoying tribal short kids from d2 act 3), similar characters (and only 3 of them) and similar skills and items.
It's nice to play of course but i don't think its worth $20

I do like the fact that it is small and takes like an hour to download in less then optimal speed

well if we're gonna go with that games aren't worth 50$ either... blame the market for that. (this is less true since the dollar went way down, too bad we're getting the equivalent of 50Euros over here instead of 50$)

And the 3 characters are coppied off Diablo 1, which had warrior, rogue and sorcerer.

Just tried the demo, and I think it's a decent time killer. Nothing special, but well worth the price.

Or games aren't worth 60$ (Modern Warfare 2 and some other new ActiBlizz games) and we can blame greedy Kottick for that.

I checked the demo yesterday, and it's really Diablo'ish. Music, the feel, the gameplay is really showing that this is a product of people who worked on Diablo 1&2. It's worth a €20. It's good enough for that...

The music is done by the same guy that did it for Diablo...

Also, for GoW, what to expect in the 1st patch: http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2030

My first impression was "it's mini Diablo3" esp. on next level after mines. Add to this D2 game mechanics, D1 chars and a bit of steam-punk and we have best diablo clone so far.

Talking about D3, here's a mod that gives you the UI from it: http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=4252

I agree, it's a fun game, and it looks and sounds like Diablo. And surprisingly easy. At Normal my potions are piling up quickly (that's coming from the guy who was getting his ass kicked in Bioshock 2).
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

Well you can't really compare an individuals skill across genres... maybe you're just really bad at FPS's...
