Facetool

Unread postby Milla aka. the Slayer » 14 Jul 2008, 17:40

Hi, I wasn't sure where to put this so I put it here.
I downloaded the Facetool for H4 but can't make it work. When I open it I get this message: "Assertation failure (C:\Modding\Facetool\tavern unit.pas, line 699)"

What does this mean? I really wanna try out the facetool! Please help :beg:

I don't know. Here's also older facekit. But currently no one of them is working for me.

Someone obviously made some new characters cause I've seen them somewhere. I just don't know how :(

I didn't really do anything, but point you in the right direction.
How do you like the Facetool?

Not sure. I thought there'd be more editing in the Facetool itself but I can't see it. So I transferred the file to paint ;)

As you have found out you need to create/modify the portait in a different progam and then paste it in. The only other item you can change is the hero's biography. If you get any annoying white spots in the portait, then copy and paste that new portrait from facetool into paint and the white spots show up as pink if I recall. You can then touch those up and repaste the edited portrait back into facetool.

Jeff, how do you "touch those up"? I got the same annoying spots as before.

Just theoretically there may be same or similar reason for odd spotst like in h3. In this case it was caused by palette, where that happened when first color in a palette (color table) was used in image.

You could download IDraw 3.31. It allows you to fully edit the palette and every pixel of the image. It is what I use to correct that annoying mess of pink dots.

I have similar problem. I get this:
"Assertion failure (C:\Modding\Facetool\DefAndH4ROps.pas, line 314)"
Facetool is located in C:\Modding\FaceTool.

Try placing the FaceTool execute file in the C:\ root directory. I have found placing it in a subdirectory caused me a similar problem.

Sorry I am currently running it in Win 7 64bit without any trouble, in the past I have run it on Vista and XP both 32 bit. I am using a shortcut created by windows, but I also have run it using windows explorer and just double clicking on the exe file. As I said the exe file is on the root directory. If it isn't working for you, I guess you could try downloading it again. All I did was cut and paste my exe file from an old computer and pasted it on my win 7 computer and I am not using any compatibility modes. ;|

I placed mine under C:\FaceTool. I found out it needs to be placed on the C drive to work.

portraits I've made. Any one else made some? viewtopic.php?t=12752
