Making simple mods

Unread postby falcore19 » 20 Jun 2006, 13:00

Hello,

I like Equilibris, good job. Made me pick up my old copy of HOMM4 and play it again.

Anyway, I understand that making a big mod requires knowledge in programming etc, but what about making simple changes like changing stats of creatures and spells etc?

I got interested in modding so I downloaded a h4r extractor/builder and started looking around. I guess I could edit the files with wordpad, but it's kinda messy, so I was wondering if you had any tools to read the h4r and edit them? Any useful tools? I used to mod for HOMM3, and with a simple table editor you could do a lot.

Thanks in advance.

If your'e going to make simple modding, you'll have to use those extractor/builder utilities. Nothing simple but with advanced capabilities is available.

You either do very simple things or you dig deep.
