Can I stay with XP?? :-D
But I'm glad I read this, before getting the win 10 update. What Jeff encountered, was definitely one of my biggest concerns. Atleast regarding the Equi editor.. So thx Jeff for being test dummy ;)

Also Corel X5 is having some problems with installer, so, regarding some people reporting that it can work - with update option, it's probably no go as I cannot install it. Installer hangs and run forever. My sound card Maya44 is also not having drivers, that may change.

One of my computers is pretty old too. But it still does the job, so - yes, we can! :D

Well it will clear the mapmaking field for you and remove me as I am almost certainly going to update once the hardware gets the drivers. I was looking at my unfinished campaign; with the changes I have decided to make and the two maps that need to be created the time factor will not allow me to finish before the upgrade. So I have put the campaign in cold storage again; it will stay there until equilibris runs under windows 10.

I do nothing illegal, and I don't consider that Microsoft has a right to spy on me. I am staying with Windows 7, and have removed the obvious spying by Microsoft by following this:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/nlk3yibas0c38 ... es.7z?dl=0

Anyway, it's possible that they spy anyway, but I'm not going to make it easy for them, and am definitely not going to get Windows 10 when the spying has been built in a lot more.

Anyway Jeff, I hope you are able to get Equilibris editor working some stage soon in Windows 10.

If it does run; it will either be an update from Microsoft fixing several items or the efforts of someone else. Right now I am busy enough with other projects.

there's always the option of having 2 windows installed. win 10 and an older one that can run equilibris without problems.. :creative:

I don't think so; I don't want to tie up that much resources just to run one little program. Unfortunately, I am told that windows 10 is now cleared for my computer and is waiting to be installed. I am delaying for a bit in hopes someone finds a way to run it under 10. If not I'll move on. Maybe I will stumble across a cheat laptop that I can use. Right now I am far too busy writing text for the game MORE to work on my campaign anyway.

@jeff

BEFORE the updated is downloaded
Look for hidden updates and disable it, also there should be two patches to uninstall.

Thank you, but I am not trying to stop it. I plan on doing the upgrade. I am just hoping a solution can be found to run the editor. Be it something the Equilibris team does or an update from Microsoft targeting some other incompatibility that fixes the editor problem.

How the editor crashes? Is there an error message?

It starts to load normally; then you get the message Heroes Might and Magic IV editor has stopped working. Windows then gathers information and closes the program. Now this happens only with the equilibris editor. The game with or without equilibris and the standard WoW editor runs just fine.

Still I guess that there will be striking new sort of program execution protection. But it could be a bug who know?

Last program trace? I mean, there's necessary to provide more information for Equi Team. If it happen in every instance of Win10, then they will catch it anyway.

Just to clarify - Max_HMMI is the one who is trying to catch the bug and solve the problem. Wish him luck :)

No progress so far.

It's a valiant attempt to fight a bug without having access to Win 10. He's trying to "guess" the bug from your error messages. I'm a bit skeptical about the approach and I think he still needs proper hardware to run Win 10.

I'll keep you posted about progress.

Perhaps jeff you can 'borrow' your computer via TeamViewer to Max_HMMI, for a short while..

That should help. :)

Although I think that it will be very slow session.
