it looks like the demon is guarding something and the would be Gandalf wants to pass, not the other way around, as in the original...

I posted that POTD. I know the roles have been switched compared to the famous LOTR scene, but I immediatly thought of that quote when I saw the image.

Looks like a Mausoleum to me. Or, a some kind of prison for captured heroes.

Maybe a defected PowerLich to the Underworld who would have financed itself the construction of a world of the damned's version of Mausoleum with a constant active in motion Lava Moat surrounding it.

That would be funny, cuz lava usually points to Inferno. Maybe a prison, maybe prison looks different depending on who's in it.
