It's better if they develop H6 (imp...), I like their ideas... Nival sucks...

@Vokial:

If they were the ones who got to work on H5, you would say: "It would be better if someone like Nival worked on it. This giys suck."

Maybe who knows, but Nival were bad choice. I know them and their works before H5 and I when heard about Nival and H5 I just said "Pfff"... man... I want H6 by Blizzard :P or NCsoft LOL

Sure Nival has messed up enough to kick them from the project.

What is it you like so much about the KB developers besides them not being Nival? Did you play the game? I hope you don't base such a statement on the screenshot.

Nival has, IMO, made a game that is now 50 times better then H3. AS far as I am concerned, they can continue working. Seems Ubisoft agrees with that,

I agree. I've been playing HOMM since the beginning. H5 gives us everything we said we always said we wanted plus 3D. My wife and I both play and we think it is better than H3 by an order of magnitude.

@Vokial:

And I can't see anything better in H3, especialy since TotE was released. As Rdeford said, H5 is H3 in 3D with improved and added features.

List of better H5 features:

-better town-bulding system (you can't build high-level builgings so fast anymore)

-better battle system (creature specialities have greater influence)

-complex skill system

-factions totally differ from one to other in terms of gameplay (in H3 factions were nothing more but sets of creatures)

-caravans and creature spellcasters (welcomed features from H4)

-improved importance of both heroes and creatures (5/7 stacks are now important, unlike H3 where if you had one powerful stack, you were undefeatable in SP)

-alternative upgrades (re-textures or not, game is more interesting)

-greater importance of hero-specialities

-better Thieves Guild system

-added town specialities (not much, but still cute)

-easily modable

-more ballanced spell system

-better implented Combination-artifact system

-much more interesting necromancy system

-...I think I told enough

Better H3 features:

-user-friendly editor (tough very, very limited... both H4 and H5 have a better one)

-old M&M universe

-storyline in RoE, AB and HC (I am not sure id SoD is worse then H5std or not...)

-more spells

-...I am out of ideas

Looking at thiese two lists shows the obvious winner, IMO.

Just two more things that make H3 very appealing and so long-lasting:

-Good random map generator.

-HUGE maps (unlike H5). In H5 i never play more than 4 AIs, it gets very crowded otherwise, and I rarely get to get my hero's skills to max for the same reason.

In fact if H5 had maps as huge as H3 (and they didn't lag) it would be greater than H3 imho

H3 has a lot more actually, also TotE has millions of disadvantages, we can start with the silly campaign story, then move through all the bugs and finish with the RMG. They are millions. H5 isn't bad game if we live in 2003-2004 :P but its 2008 the game industry is has changed, many games are better. I still enjoy H3, but I'm bored of H5... If we compare H5 with other new games its simply nothing...

But you know me (or you don't) I'm HoMM fan :P

No, first you need to give part of the armor you found there to guy in the hall. Then leave.

But, honestly, there is no point in playing this game if you dont understand the language.

"Good random map generator."

I didn't see any difference betewen the H3 one and the H5 one (and I used theme both a lot) so I doubt this is advantage for any of thiese two.

"HUGE maps (unlike H5). In H5 i never play more than 4 AIs, it gets very crowded otherwise, and I rarely get to get my hero's skills to max for the same reason. "

H3max: XL

H5max: XXXL

How to the hell can H3 have huger maps? And it becomes crowded in both of them, the difference is only that it looks different because of graphics.

And disadvantage of reaching max. level is subjective. Some like to maximize one hero (RPg oriented) while others like to have more main heroes (strategy oriented).

And no H5 map lags (even the biggest) on my PC and my PC ain't the first scream of technic. And here I talk about max. details.

"silly campaign story"

I gave that advantage to H3, even if this element is subjective.

"then move through all the bugs"

I have played a LOT of maps in H5TotE and I have never encountered one bug, even in old campaigns that are transported into TotE with a mod. It is fixed and fully playable now.

In other words, bugs element can hardly be taken as a disadvantage any longer.

"They are millions. H5 isn't bad game if we live in 2003-2004 :P but its 2008 the game industry is has changed"

Gamy industry is the same today and 5 years ago. If what you say is true, then we should scrap HoMM or change it into something completely else. Since many of you didn't like H4 with has done the later in just few things, I guess the only option is to say "Good Bye, HoMM! Your time is up!"

Well, you won't hear me say that! I want HoMM to stay HoMM today and 20 years later, with improvements in graphics and added features. Since H5 has done just that, I am more then pleased.

@Akul

I have not played a single TotE map that comes even close to the largest maps of previous HoMM games, size-wise. Maps that claim to be large are medium sized at best, perhaps even smaller. So I wouldn't make much of that "XXXL".

@Vokial

All the bugs? Any bugs in TotE are minor and do not detract from the gameplay. Perhaps you have confused the original, unpatched HoMM V game with TotE.

@Metathron:

Perhaps, perhaps not. I never felt the map wa smaller then it was said, tough it does look because of change of look.

All in all, an M sized map here takes exact time for me to complete like an older M map.
