I never understood why computer games used to come in those massive boxes.

And the cloth map, the spell book, the publisher's game catalog, the reference sheet, the registration card... What else?

Hey, I'm 25! The HIII box had that huge manual, but Armageddon's Blade came in an equally large box without any of the bells and whistles. The HIV box managed to fit everything in a more economical box.

I kind of miss those "bog old boxes". The nice manual, a poster, all sorts of merc :-) I have 2 "moving boxes" of games from "ye oldie days" and its actually fun to look at the details on the old box games :-)

@ MMXAlamar : I remenber the ghosts, once you had them, you just needed to attack weak stacks to get a huge army in no time ...

I remember reading the manual for Master of Orion 2; it even had a story of how the legend of the Orions had become "shrouded by time" ... I love stuff like that! :)

Wow. I wish I had all those old Wizardry, Ultima and D&D boxes. You know, when the games were played on a keyboard and sometimes had joystick support. Such an old name.

To remember the Apple II and the IBM PC back in the 80's. More than much has changed, though the same principles apply.

@Evernight: HIV managed to fit everything in a smaller box because it had a much smaller manual with much smaller print.
