Heroes VI Hard Core

Unread postby Kalah » 11 Oct 2010, 21:45

The core units of the Heroes VI Haven faction: Sentinel and Praetorian. All in all, the units seem well armed and well protected, with armour inspired by mediaeval Europe, seemingly Japanese spears and a helmet combining typical European knight shapes with an ancient Greek-Corinthian design.

Now that you mention it, looks unfitting. Everything else is topnotch though!

Hey look, it's a new unit... totally unlike a Spearman with too much armour on.

Looks as good defensive unit.

But with view so much limited by that helmet, imo they should have penalty in retaliation to rear attacks and against flying units...

A glancing blow from sword, mace, or axe by a mounted unit would slide right over that Sentinel's helm, but that Praetorian's helm would catch the force of the blow and give that poor soldier whiplash at the very least.

I'd lose the cape, as well... at least on the battlefield.

Nonetheless, nice artwork!

I kinda miss the old simple, realistic unit art from H1-H4.

@Darkstrom:

This is quite realistic art. Dunno what you're talking about.

@POTD:

This is the coolest looking Haven unit since the good old Crusader!

Realistic as in realistic to produce. See pikemen from H3, they have standard issue items, no ornaments and things.

Personally I don't mind units being ornate, but I have to agree that a unit like that should be of really high level.

Love the graphics. Like usual, this is typical of Ubisoft. Please make the AI the most difficult task instead of the graphics. Of course, both the AI and the graphics would be nice... though for our beloved fans make an AI from hell! Much is said with the Heroes 6 wishlist thread on CH. Most people play Heroes against the computer so it is important to take a look at this thread. Nice art.

You know i didn't even realise that they have shields and spears (which are in no way Japanese Kalah) at the same time... must be very unwieldy on a BF.
