Cure For Dwarfness

Unread postby Kalah » 02 Jun 2009, 12:24

Here's a good one: not only does lichdom grant eternal life, vast arcane power and glowing pink eyes, it even makes a man out of the most stubbly dwarf.

...else they just couldn´t be bothered to make a dwarf-lich model. Thanks Ethric.

Maybe they figured nobody would be crazy enough to make a Dwarf Sorceror in the first place . . . :)

I always disliked the over representation of humans among the undead...

I didn't know about change from dwarf to man :), 'cos I always chose elf as a mage. Though I like liches - it's very nice one

Going with an all Sorcerer party, I chose one of each race. There's really no practical difference once you get past the starting stats. But it seems that the transformation into lich turn everyone human, not only in model but in functionality as well. Because they can all use the Minds Eye helm, even though only one is actually human. Quite the oversight there, I think. But of course, not really one that most players will notice :)

The game was harder than I'd thought, since I was always low on cash, which isn't a problem usually if you have at least M in merchant. But with all liches (only E) I usually paid triple on everything and was lucky to get just about half an item's worth in sales. And there was a lot of potion micromanagement, at least until I got Lloyd's and could just beam out to a temple and straight back into the fray refreshed.

Trying to solo MM8 with a vampire now... tricky, I recall I gave that one up a few years back.

Lol. Not something I've ever run into myself, but interesting nevertheless. :)

Wasn't too hard, but then I did find a Noblebone Bow early on, in one of those "secret" artifact-containing treasure-stashes (in a tree by a bridge in Ravenshore). Exploding impact-bow and Berserk works very well.

Other than that, there's a lot of running and weaving. The Charm-spell (M Vampire-ability) is quite useful in close quarters where there's no room to run.

I was just talking about inventory space for the coffin. ;)

Oh well, have to be economical on space in any case, only picking up small valuables.

Now I'm at the bit that put me of last time... Regna :S

Me too, I find this a big problem in the way most games represent undead in a fantasy setting.
You'd think Darkmoor was a ghost town, but instead there's plenty of life among the dead.

True. It would be nice to see undead pixies, harpies or troglodytes.:P

Wow, I never noticed that :D
And I agree here, the undead would surely be somewhat differently presented if there were skeletal dwarves, elves, orcs, minotaurs etc. amongst their ranks.
