Biggles Review

Unread postby LindaG » 11 Jun 2006, 18:07

I understand financially why they went to a 3-d system, but I was disappointed. I've been playing RPGs since they started out as just green dashes on a monochrome monitor.

And while I would not want those days back, I prefer 2-d screens. 3-d confuses me too much. lol.

And I don't like the lack of a market or a caravan. I find the basic game controls hard to understand in general.

But I know I'm a minority, so I will say I'm just glad go see the game live on.

I look forward to having time to play sometime soon.

"Are you kidding me? Two spells per level per school (Exept for summoning...)?! this is rediculous!!"(sic)

You know what - I never actually paused to count the number of spells in Heroes V and compare it with other Heroes games. The greater interaction of the skills and abilities system with each school of magic gave me the impression that the magic system has been extended.

Nice to see I've stirred up such a debate. Of course, everyone who has disagreed with me is plainly wrong. Especially Senahoj. ;-)

Basically, the more I play, the more this game sucks. I want my money back.

technically, is there any remote possibility someone will tend to the 'comments' here?
I have probably offended you in this post. if you take it too harshly, it's your own responsability. I, for my part, never intended to.

I was so furious when I first played this game, I couldn't believe what they had done to a series I had loved so. I've tempered a little, but my first thought then, remains true now. Heroes of Might and Magic is not Warcraft and the more it tries to be the more stupid it looks. Heroes 5 is not bad, it just has absolutely nothing to do with Heroes 1 through 4 (and I played them all to death).

Forget my money, I want my childhood back...

I agree with Biggles' review. I too have played H1 -- H4 a LOT. By comparison, H5 has put the excitement and the play-one-more turn obsessive game play back into the series for me. I was not an early adopter though; the demo turned me off. But, as a late adopter (just in time for the 1.4 patch), I have to say that I'm hooked. This is a great game with a great support community.
