The Queen Walkthrough

Unread postby Angelspit » 19 May 2006, 01:50

A first walkthrough article has been posted for The Queen scenario of the Haven campaign in Heroes V. Why a walkthrough for the tutorial you may ask? Well, some people may think that the tutorial lacks some detail, especially for the combat part. In my article I describe the most important parts of the interface and lists the controls that are really useful to the new player. I also a provide a few tips for the Heroes veteran who feels uncomfortable with the new camera system. There's also a screenshot of the Collector's Edition aura, in case you have been wondering what it was like. I didn't provide any detail about the plot of the campaign, but I posted a minimap of the first map, so open the page at your own risk.

The Walkthrough section will be expanded with a series of new articles during the next few weeks. Contact us if you have tips to share with fellow Heroes players.

"Players who feel uncomfortable with the new camera can keep it facing North and move around like in the previous Heroes game."

In this scenario yes ... but it's impossible to move and take objects in underground without vhanging camera view .

Also even on surface there are maps (even in demo)on which you will not see and miss some res, treasure if u do not change the camera ...

Actually I welcome that you have to change the camera to get everything. Makes for an additional thing to delay time so you gotta hurry a little.

I don't know why people don't like new camera. It's great IMO. In previous heroes some treausres could be behind objects and are not so easy to spot, here you can rotate the camera and view the map from every angle. It's great.

So what does the normal, non-aura indicator look like?

Cool guide!

Another camera tip: if you want to bring the camera back to its "regular-to-the-north" position, you can just hit the HOME button. it also returns the view to the default zoom level (all these worked in the demo...the game didn't arrive to Israel yet...)

Ah, thank you! I wanted to mention that essential function but just couldn't remember what the hotkey was. I'll add it to the article later.

To Malicen:

I hope that Nival did not spend most of their time on camera. Graphic is uber-unimportant for a TBS.

On the contrary, the high standards for both art and music are among the things that have attracted me to Heroes from the get-go.

Art and camera movement aren't the same thing. Also a game can look great without having the latest fancy graphics.

You can also rotate the camera with the "insert" and "delete" keys if you (like myself) don't like to rotate cameras with the mouse. I think you can also use "ctrl" + "arrow keys", but i'm unsure about this one.

Good review, agreeably helpful to new players. minor linguistic point - "facultative" is unusual in English (though common in German) - the more usual term is "optional".

Perhaps I feared the worst with the camera, as I am hopeless at 3D, but even I find it easy enough if you have a mouse with a heel.

Maybe this should also be in the Tutorial section of this website since this guide teaches you how to play the game, pretty much. Overall i don't understand why you made this walkthrough, it's pretty straight forward in the game where the tip appears every minute.

This is, without a doubt, the hardest Mission in Heroes 5 ;)
