The Discources with Fabrice Continue

Unread postby Angelspit » 26 Apr 2006, 14:02

Back in late February, Fabrice Cambounet and Corribus started an email conversation where they discussed how Heroes of Migth and Magic V was shaping up. The second part of that discussion kept being delayed as Fabrice and his team went into crunch mode to finish the game on schedule. Now that this important milestone has been reached, you can read about the importance of the fan community and how it has influenced the development of the game, Dark Messiah and a possible RPG game, the events that might follow the release of the game and what's up with Fabrice now that the game is gold. It's all here.

notable parts of the interview:

"Another point is that developing a rpg game today is a big challenge, and we wouldn’t want to do it wrong."

and

"We are planning a lot of things after the release. While the typical balancing patch is expected, we will also include game updates in these patches. The map editor itself will be made available to everyone through one of these updates."

This first one promeses a good M&M X and the latter: I'd probably want to test the game to get a feel of how it really works anyway so perhaps it isn't such a bad thing.
Grah!

Well it seems pretty certain now that new factions (or old factions...) will appear in the EPs. Only question: which ones?

My only question is this: who exactly is the story writer of Heroes V? Who came up with Ashan and all the mythology?

Well, the "interview" questions were written prior to the SF announcement - and prior to the Gold announcement as well. I tacked on the Gold question just recently; forgot to ask about SF. Oh well. :)

@ theLuckyDragon:

The universe creators were Erwan Le Breton and Richard Dansky (although I'm sure there were others involved with the project). They introduced themselves with one of the Developers Diaries. Thank you! :)
I must say though, I kinda liked the discreet idea of a Sci Fi universe behind everything, in the original Heroes games... I was unusual, in the good sense.
And maybe this has been mentioned before, but the Isabel in that sketch in the interview looks much better than the one I've seen in screenshots.

Nice article, but it seems that we will have to download a lot of patches as I recall :(. And only bug fixes and tweaking? I supose that means they didn't change too much in version 1.0 (well, there is a possibilty they were already working on version 1.0, while the demo was meant to be released in version 0.9, and the decision was made long before it)

But hey, I'm not complaining :P. I'm just happy the game is very close to it's release and I just can't wait...
