The Rise and Fall of Sandro

Unread postby Angelspit » 19 Jun 2008, 20:00

<img src="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/images/news/TRaFoS.jpg" align=right vspace=10 hspace=10>A story of Love and Hate. War and Peace. Life and Death. Sandro is familiar with all HoMM fans who have played the HoMM games through the years. Follow his beginnings in Northern Enroth to his final stage of existance before the Gates of AvLee. All HoMM games can be used for this Campaign. They include HoMM 1, HoMM 2 (PoL), HoMM 3 (SoD), HoMM 3 (WoG 3.58f), HoMM 4 (WoW) and HoMM 4 (Equilibris). HoMM 5 was not used here, because Sandro was not included in the game. The maps included can be played individually of course. And there is a fully illustrated Document with the download that tells the story from one map to another, for those who may not have all the games. There is also "connecting" texts that explain what's going on between maps and what is about to happen. We feel some of the story elements within the maps may surprise and shock you. And we hope we have treated some situations you'll encounter, with dignity. We felt they were necessary to tell the story the way we saw it. (You will also discover why Sandro is so evil.)

This story has been in development by me, ByteBandit, for several years now. At the same time, I also wanted to bring the older HoMM games back from the shadows because they are still challenging and fun to play. Muszka and Koni also thought it would be nice to bring them back in a whole new way. So, we have insured the most enjoyment you can get from such a story driven Campaign as this, with challenging game play and extensive reading for the average and above average player. Together, we bring you this extraordinary, one of a kind Campaign to life.

I'd like to thank the CH Staff for posting the Campaign so quickly. I think I can say for my fellow co-workers on this Campaign that it was a labor of Love to produce. We hope everyone does enjoy it.

The concept is brilliant, I wish I had the time to play it from time to finish.. Shadow of death is easily one of my favourite campaigns.

Congratulations looks great!
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Looks interesting! Since I was considering to play H3 this weekend anyway, why not play the campaign? :)

EDIT: Um, can I finish the whole campaign just with H3 SoD?

Really an 'unique' project, which comes true! And thanks to ByteBandit for this great idea and realization. You can be proud!!! And I will take care, that your work will be spread over the German fans, too! A German version will follow within this summer!

@arturchix: Reading the announcements in the news exactly, you see the campaign begins with playing map 1 with H1 and ends with playing map 6, having installed H4 - Equilibris. You can only play map 3 with H3 SoD.

Wonderful! I will undoubtedly enjoy playing this enormously, when I have time, because (a) I've always liked the first three games in the Heroes series best (and I can enjoy IV a lot as well, if the maps is well designed) and (b) Sandro has always been one of my favourite characters in the game. Perhaps my favourite of all, in fact, in terms of always being present: he seems like an old friend. Congratulations on a very impressive piece of work.

Although there are many inconsistencies with Might Magic storyline in this campaign, it's great. Good job, ByteBandit!
Make you strong places to dwell and practice the evil of your arts. Build great monuments to stand through the ages and remind your followers of the task with which you have been charged. Use these halls of iniquity to perpetrate your schemes against the infestation that has taken the fields and lakes of this land from you, their rightful masters. Never forget the hatred that must finally overcome and consume mankind. Dwell in your dungeons and brood. - Sheltem the Dark

True. But many fans had to make up their own story when it came to connecting the games. ;)

I love the concept. Additionally, the computer I'm on now is named Sandro.

I can't wait to play as much as I can. :)

Because of sci-fi, I suspect. Games in M&Mincluding HoMM are well connected.

Well, the story is not true to the original storyline of the HoMM universe, I admit. After all, this is a fan made campaign. This is how I saw the HoMM universe unfolding if I were to write the games. And once you play through this campaign, you'll see there are more twists and turns in it than in the original. And I thought the original was excellent! I suppose some can complain that this campaign is not along the original storyline of Sandro, but this is just my version of how I saw Sandro, or wished him to be like. I thought I would give a new mindset on him. He is perhaps more evil in this campaign than many other ones you may have played with him.
Like, we were never given the reason why Sandro turned from a Warlock to a Necromancer between games 1 and 2. And what he was doing in Enroth to begin with. And we were never told how Roland and Catherine met for H3. At least not in the HoMM games. I just decided to fill in the blanks, and at the same time, I found the story was evolving into something more than what we were given.
