Don't worry if things are going badly today. They will be much worse tomorrow.

I am new to all of this, and I haven't done anywhere near the posts that most of you have done. Even so, I must say that I like it here and I will continue contribute. HOMM has a place in my heart that is unique, sort of a nostalgic feeling for what once was and will likely never be again. Too complex to fully express here and now. Yet I think all of you know exactly what I am talking about. Thoughts of H6 make me hopeful. I echo Akul: "Long live The Round Table!"

The Mayan grand cosmic calendar ends its longest cycle in the winter solastice, 2012 ( translated to our calendar, of course) Although it may sound suspicious that a non-European culture living its high times in the 8th and 9th centuries AD would make a prophecy about the world's end in our times, yet it did happen. They where one of the most technically advanced nations of their times, excelling in the field of astronomy and engineering. Their calendar did not use the number 0 so I emphasize again the major achievement of their complex calculations. More info can be found on the various Mayan culture and calendar research themed websites and of course the scientifically acclaimed Wikipedia.
