Title: Open Beta Tournament Cancelled

Unread postby [T]osHiro » 04 Feb 2006, 14:20

Vision from the Oracle League has sadly announced that the Open Beta Tournament which was to be held on January 30th has been cancelled.

With the huge number of issues, and the now evident cheating going on in multiplayer (tampering with files) I cannot in allow the tournament to start at this time. It would simply be unfair to hold a tournament where the winner could possibly be a cheater.

I am quite disappointed that the tournament has been cancelled, but Vision made the correct choice. Oracle League simply would not tolerate a winner who cheats. Until then, we shall keep for the next Open Beta Tournament.

That's probably for the best. Even without the modding, I think it would be difficult to hold a fair tournament with a beta version of the game. They should wait until the game is released before thinking about restarting it.

Its a shame players need to cheat to be a man. Cheater will always be just a little boy to me.
Let them think they are winning, when they find out they are losing, its too late.

It is unfortunate that I had to cancel the beta tournament. I was hoping it would be good enough to hold even Duel games, but with the cheating that has been happening, there was no choice. It had to be cancelled.

Sorry to hear about it. Too bad that the cheaters should force you to do this.

Cheaters are pathetic. :disagree:

That's a common stereotype. Cheaters often enjoy the distress of their opponents caused by the act itself.

as if cheaters was the main issue..

the only reason I see to hold a tournament is to encourage testing of the game. but that's something in ubisoft's responsibility, not the oracle league's.

would anyone really want to participate in a tourney considering the state the game is in right now?

Yup.

Say wha? The point of the tournament was to try and have fun and perhaps add a competitive edge to the games. I really doubt there was some bizzare hidden motive like this.

I think a tourney may be difficult regardless of cheating, but it does make a good excuse. Especially to point out to Ubi that MP will not be fair until all the cheat possibilities are isolated and fixed.

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
