New Map: Asiatic Empires

Unread postby rdeford » 30 Jan 2008, 22:45

ByteBandit,

I am totally in awe of this accomplishment. What a wonderful concept. I didn't really get into H4, though it wasn't a bad game, so I quit playing it years ago. Now you have me interested again so maybe your desire to revive H4 is being fulfilled, eh?

Question, I believe I still have my original H4 disks around, and I even made a disk with all the downloaded patches for it. Can I play these maps with it? Oh, and, what is WoW, and how do I get it?

Thank you rdeford. A team effort to be sure.

Yes. After you install you H4 standard discs and patch them, you can play the standard versions of these maps.
WoW is short for Winds of War. The third expansion to H4. The WoW versions are scripted. The standard versions are not.

Next week I will take a look on Beowulf. I already have a bad feeling about it.
I don't used to, but...
This is pathetic, you are talking about fairly good movies and courage of people that gave birth to legends. Courage you'll never have...

Enough offtopic already, I'm sorry Steve, your maps deserve a lot better. I'm happy that I could test them, it was great experience, and fun to do, and it has diversity you rarely find.
-Single player with many historical elements, both for those who like stories, and who just want an easy play since story has no effects in the choises player does.
-Multiplayer with extremly balanced and still unique with each faction.

All in all the maps give an excelent game for everybody who likes H4, except for strict RPG players.
Also the scripts ensure the hardcore players, that they can have their challenge.

Thanks to your input during testing, the WoW maps are very challenging with Humakts' script. I thank you for all you've done, Muszka, and I hope we can continue in the future with possible H4 Empire works as they may come up.

I will test your maps whenever I have the chance to do so, and if you want me to do. :)

New Map: Asiatic Empires

Unread postby Ravenheart87 » 31 Jan 2008, 07:45

@Muszka: Okay, sorry for being dumb. Sometimes I'm so annoyed, that every issue, no matter how big/small, good/bad it is, reminds me something sh*t. And there's plenty of them out nowadays.

Still, I didn't say anything bad about the maps...

And I suppose I never will, because I have better things to do than playing HeroesIV. But I must admit,

the maps at first glance look really nice, and I like the idea too. And I respect everyone, who can sacrifice hist precious time to do something like these.

Bering Straits... don't tell me most of you haven't heard of them?

Anyway, i just dislike "italian empire" as a name... Rome and Greece sounds much better... and is more accurate (no italians back then, but latins, sabines, etruscans and the others that where the basis of the romans)

I, for one, have. Went out on a fish processor in the Bering. Nastiess water I ever been on. 30 ft. swells are no fun.

I do wonder why you have to clarify that. ;)

@Ravenheart
It sounded much harsher actually, than it should... Nevermind... :)

Actually there are less intellegint people, or people who don't think geography/history is important.

Koni has begun translating the maps into German and has been posting them here:

http://www.kartenarchiv.de/ or http://www.mightandmagicworld.de/downlo ... php?cat=34

He has added some other texts to the maps from what I understand. Perhaps he may come here and ellaborate on what he has done on them. Good luck with them, Koni. And thank you.

Oh, I didn't change so much! In the Atlantic Empires I only added a short history of Portugale and Ireland, since these two regions are involved in the Iberian and British history. The timed texts and town bios are a bit longer (maybe caused by the *more complicated* German language) and some a bit more detailed. The timed texts are given to both sides of players - in Ancient Empires one after an other in a whole block of Roman and Hellenistic history, and in Atlantic Empires day by day in change, since the events flow together into the "defeat of Armada".
But I hope, ByteBandit's great work and intention is not adulterated by my interferences. ;)

Not at all, Koni. I'm familiar with your work, and anything you do with them is approved by me, if that's what you wanted to know. :)
