Sharper Texture Mod

Unread postby Angelspit » 15 Jan 2008, 03:40

Fiur has completed work on a graphical mod for Heroes V: Tribes of the East that adds sharper textures to the creatures of all towns. Several examples and download links can be found at the Heroes Community (or pick up the whole package here.

What do you think of the results?

Wow, this actually looks good: http://home.online.no/~to-tho/Heroes5/m ... c1_mod.jpg

And the red hair on the Flame Lord was a touch of genius.

Sharper Texture Mod

Good job, but the H5 monster design still is crap.

Ubisoft sux.
Heroes franchise was not about the free actions of Heroes or monsters, it was not about 3D of shiny graphics either, it was about diversity and balance, simplicity of gameplay and realistic picture, strategy in it's purest form. That's why Heroes 3 will be the greatest game of all, because only Heroes 3 has all those qualities together, no matter which one you personally like more. This statement is unquestionable, uncriticized and undeniable .

Well, in stead of blaming Ubisoft, i think the blame for the design of the game is to put at Naval Interactive. Ubisoft is just releasing it...

I still remember how I bashed Ubisoft when I first time saw a H5 creature concept.

Ironicaly, now I like H5 design a LOT more then those from old Heroes.

Still, it would have been nice if Oliver Redroit (concept artist) had more original ideas then those that are based on Warhammer. But that doesn't really bug me. They can have units that look exactly the same like creatures from Oblivion. As long as they look good on my PC, I don't care if they are original, inspired ot copied. The look is what matters.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

@darknessfood

Nope, Ubi owns the franchise and the (french) artist...

Sharper Texture Mod

Unread postby PriZmatic » 16 Jan 2008, 21:51

I tried this mod today. The textures with this mod are sweet and all monsters look brilliant - when zoomed in.

The problem is, in my opinion, that when zoomed out you can't see the details anyways and the sharpened textures just become alot of different colored pixels (fx master lich).

Therefore I prefer playing without the mod, since I spend most of my combat time zoomed out for the overview.

It might possibly just be my resolution that makes it look bad (1024x768).

But anyways - gj on the mod to the auther.

Yes some of the more detailed units look bad.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

I've put the folders into UserMODs, but nothing seems to have changed. I played as Fortress and the Flame Lord isn't ginger! Am I supposed to take the separate files out of the folders? They're called _(Model), Characters and Textures.

Thanks fiur and PriZmatic.

This should really be included in the initial post or/and some kind of readme included with the mod itself, because I'm sure that a lot of players wouldn't instantly know what to do with the file.
