Dark Messiah Elements Demo

Unread postby Angelspit » 21 Dec 2007, 14:38

According to <a href="/http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007 ... spx">Major Nelson</a> and <a href="/http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?ar ... rogamer</a>, a demo of the Xbox 360 port of Dark Messiah is now available on Xbox Live. So if you have an Xbox, you can get your fix of blood, intense violence and partial nudity for free (oh, Ubisoft, what have you done to our beloved series?).

If you would like to take a look at the original page visit this link:

I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

You don't like Dark Messiah, Angelspit? :)

Personally, I find it highly enjoyable, and I have no problem at all with its mild levels of violence and nudity.

However, I still agree that UbiSoft spoiled our beloved series -- NOT by publishing Dark Messiah though... I think UbiSoft's real major fault is hiring Nival to develop Heroes...

Dark Messiah is a fun game imho. When I played it I chose just not to think of it as a M&M game; I don't think it is, and I don't think Heroes V is either...

JSE, I'm sure the atrocity Angelspit was talking about was not Dark Messiah itself, but the blood, intense violence and partial nudity fix.

HeroesV is a fun game. UbiSoft's major fault was binding Nival's hands, and limiting them in their ideas, and of course, not giving enough time to finish the game. Have you played ToE? Well, it's made of ideas, that were left out from the base game thanx to UbiSoft.

Oh, the second major fault IMO was the new design for Heroes... Why couldn't they use the same design for HoMMV and DM?

I have heard some of Nival's original ideas I am SO happy they never got the chance. The adventure map and early interface was absolutely dreadful.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

I liked Dark Messiah. It just that the Might and Magic name doesn't belong there.

Well, I liked the two alternate upgrades ide (and it came into ToE), and there were some good ideas about the battle arenas too. And of course, if they had time... Releasing HeroesV before the ToE state was a failure... But enough, the article is about DM.XD

I liked DM. I like partial nudity, fix of blood and intense violence.:) But I miss Might&Magic...:(

Are those available to look at/read online anywhere?

If there's a problem with Dark Messiah, it's that it actually makes Ashan look good and interesting. If they did as great as a job bringing the world to life as Nival did, Ubi might actually consider returning the old M&M world.

Well... Doesn't look too dreadful, does it? And the font used in the top left and top right corners is way better than the annoying italic font they put in the release version -- makes reading harder.

Is it only me or does Isabel look better in this screenie? ;)

I dunno, the screenie looks alright. Not that I'd want to build a summer home there but the trees are really quite lovely. Just the roads and the lack of terrain mixing are the only major problems.

You should have seen the pic with the towns in the interface.. Hope I'll find it again.
