HoMM Kingdoms Announced

Unread postby Angelspit » 13 Dec 2007, 18:12

Ubisoft announced a new game of the Heroes series. From the press release:

<i>"Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms is a strategy game set in a persistent version of the heroic-fantasy world of Heroes of Might and Magic. Thousands of players will be able to rule their virtual kingdoms, lead gigantic armies against each other, master the trades or create legendary heroes. The game requires no download or installation, only an Internet connection. In addition, players can play at their own pace; from 10 minutes to multiple-hour sessions."</i>

A product page can be found <a href="/http://www.hommkingdoms.com/">here</a> and a forum, <a href="/http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 6">here</a>. According to Fabrice Cambounet, "the game itself is scheduled a launch next spring." A beta is scheduled for early 2008.

In other words, we have Heroes of Might and Magic Online.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Quick, a bandwagon, get it, GET IT!

Well... sounds like a tough sell, a hard concept to make into a sensible online game I'd think

In other words, we have a browser based, nice, 2D online strategy. It's like an upgraded Utopia.:) Play for free as long as you want... I like the idea.

Still, I'm more interested in what's Nival doing...

HoMM Kingdoms most probably will be a huge hit - this is basically a new, unexplored field and the game looks really impressive. For example, Travian has more than 1 million players, HoMM Kingdoms most probably will have even more, mostly because of the HoMM brand. This is an exciting time! :)

"Master the trades?" You mean by playing this game I can learn plumbing, carpentry, and maybe even how to put up drywall? Cool!

(Seriously, does no one at Ubi/whatever even KNOW a native speaker of the english language? I'm hardly perfect, but you'd think a press release for a major new project would be a LITTLE more carefully worded.)

Awesome! But by the screenshots it doesn't really look like classic HOMM combat, though I'm always game for something different.

Well, combat must be simplified. Don't forget, it's still justa browser based strategy game, not a new episode of the Heroes series. It's something different.

Lol, good one. I think there's a game in there somewhere but MMO isn't really my thing.

"Play for free as long as you want"

It seems so, it'll be free. Visit the homepage, it answers some questions - and leaves you with many more unanswered ones.:)
