Tribes Preview at GameSpy
A few days the publication of the <a href="/http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/civilization-4 ... vilization IV: Beyond the Sword review</a> (the title is describes as a great expansion), GameSpy's Heroes specialist Allen Rausch posts a <a href="/http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/heroes-of-migh ... l">preview of the Tribes of the East expansion</a>. He tries the Shatter ability and wonders what kind of impact it will have on the game's balance:
<i>"As Orc leaders level up, they'll gain access to special "Shatter" abilities that weaken or even altogether block certain kinds of magic. Enough money and sacrificial victims on the altar and I had enough "Shatter Magic" levels on my hero that I was able to run over a bunch of powerful human mages like they were just a group of old guys in silly robes. The problem, of course, is one of balance. Factions that rely on suppressing others' abilities often become either unstoppable or road kill, so it should be interesting to see how the team at Nival deals with the Orcs."</i>
Also of interest is the fact that the Orc town is once again called "Bastion" in the article (GameSpot did the same thing if I remember correctly), and GameSpy mentions September 25 as the release date. Now that the major previews are done with, I guess there are only a few weeks left before the last Heroes V expansion goes gold.

I hope we won't need three patches to fix game balance.
Note to Nival: Build it with quality first and the revenue will come.

Deft edit jeff!
From the article:
Oh no...I think I'm starting to hope. Someone stop me please!
If TotE bombs, I don't even want to think about what I'll do, after all of the good reviews it's getting.
C'mon Nival! Don't you dare disappoint me...or else.
From the article:
Interesting? This provided an interesting strategic dilemma during my play time.

(I wasn't being sarcastic about the reviews...they do seem pretty good )
As for the expansion...well, I HAVE to give this a chance, don't I?
Wait, what am I saying?!
You little...[Nival bashing censored]...why are you so cruel?

Because they can just leave the game in a rotten state and not bother to patch it.

I am in the process of making a mod, so I hope they don't rework the file system or I am screwed.
>For all my complaining I'll probably end up buying it, but I am holding out a little in hopes the editor is improved. Wait a minute not improved recreated as opposed to that almost binary piece of ******* they call an editor.

I hate to break it to you, but I do not believe the mods for H-V worked with HOF (may be wrong) and even some of the patches broke many of the mods. So unless your releasing them like now, you might want to wait until after especially since it's less than 2 months from the rumored release date.ywhtptgtfo wrote:I am in the process of making a mod, so I hope they don't rework the file system or I am screwed.

Oh, I'm going to buy it despite the uncertainty and doubt. Gotta keep tossing logs on the fire or it will go out, and I really, really desire to see HOMM6 someday.
