It would be much more than nice to have mixed neutral stacks.

@ Wraith "are you trying to say HeroesVI should have 2d grapichs and fighting heroes..."

No, I was NOT expressing my opinion of what should be in HOMM6. I was trying to explain the business reasons why we don't get originality. And, I was implying that we gamers are to blame if HOMM6 doesn't have any originality.

@ Avalon-Eternal "Right, even the old is good with a great story. There is a reason for copying, and that is because the base material is good...."

I agree. And, I shall reserve my judgment on TOE until after I've played it.

Yup, lucky them that the previous HoMM games sucked so much that they couldn't use them as inspiration.

Give me traditional orcs, dark elves, and wizards any day. I don't really understand what some folks want. Orcs who are great spell casters and who suck at melee? Mages who can't cast spells and who use 2 handed great swords instead? Dark Elves who embody good and who live in treehouses on the surface and who are great peacemakers?

Would those things make the game "original" whereas sticking to "traditional" ideas about the races makes the game "unoriginal?"

Which of these Warcraft orc units did Nival "rip off?"

So agree with you GOW. Both the graphics and the units are miles in distance to the ones in H5 TotE.

WH... WH. But i did say that teh Orcs are so far the the most original faction D&D or WH wise...

What i want is my Dungeon back... i'll just wait for a WH TBS to play with the Druchii.

Does no one play Dawn of War?!

That's Dark Crusade you are thinking of Titan.

I love it when people accuse others of ripping off Blizzard.

Warcraft being as popular as it is, it doesn't take more than the concept of non-evil orcs to get people scream "rip-off"

These are still the previews and we don't know exactly how the story goes, but if the leader of the orc rebellion (Whats'isname) was raised by humans, and his closest friend dies while dueling a Pit Lord, i might suspect that UbiVal really underestimates their customers.

Anyway, i'm getting the expansion mostly for it's features (and LOTA) and will propably enjoy the campaigns only with a healthy amount of alcohol. (Drink until everything Godrick says reminds you of something from Monty Python and the Holy Grail)

Which is an expansion of what?! And even Winter Assault had a whole new race plus changes in gameplay to existing factions aside from the new unit.

@-thing

I believe OD was referring to how much Warcraft owes to Warhammer Fantasy.... and Starcraft to Warhammer 40k.

Sorry but I got enough of Warhammer for a while after I got tricked to buying Mark of Chaos (my fault) which seems a bit mediocre game. Granted it's not 40k but still.

For what it's worth I agree with TT: the Dungeon is clearly, clearly, very clearly Warhammer's Druchii; even the story of the separation is alike (even though in ToE we'll learn what exactly happened why which is NOT Warhammer).
That said, does it really matter? They play well anough.

Seeing how that 5 follows those 4 little letters it does.... WC and SC started out as WH imitations (one could argue Diablo too, though less visible), that works (and it did work), but why after 4 games of slowly building up from it's D&D inspired beginnings must HoMM turn into WHoMM??

And if i look hard enough i'm sure i'll find more then just War Dancers and Inquisitors for the other factions, just by looking for older models.
