Legends of the Ancients : Book 1 available !

Unread postby Kobiasz » 23 Jul 2007, 09:07

@Marzhin

First of all I should add, that I didn’t see them during the game. I just found them in Your add-on files. Maybe I’m just oversensitive, but asking don’t hurt;)

@ Kobiasz : ah OK, I understand better now :) Actually the still-in-french bios are because those characters may show up in future Books and their bios have yet to be written :) (That's why I took the liberty of editing your post to remove spoiler)

The town bios are another problem. Actually when you create a map the editor automatically generates txt files with the town bios... And as my Heroes 5 is the french version of the game, the generated files are in french. Fortunately those files are not actually used ingame.

I had the same thing happen to me in the third map. Kysander himself? 8|
I kinda expected him to appear in a later campaign and I was scouting towards the east with Solmyr that couldn't do much with his chain lightning.
Then again that was my first try, I didn't expect him to pop up! I'll continue soon, it's getting interesting.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

He looks good, that's for sure :) I didn't really like him as a character back then. It could be that the story was more focused on his servant or that all the other H4 characters were more interesting.

By the way, Lysander's sword with (am I right here?) Erathian runes - is it the True Gryphonheart Blade? If so, great attention to detail, and well done!

I never noticed that but according to H4 storyline it should be. Somehow Lysander ended up realizing he has royal blood so he could wield it.

I'm hoping to see ol' Lysander in future episodes as a playable hero. Maybe we'll get some revelations about his completely unexplained heritage. If he is a Gryphonheart, he must be related to Nicolai Ironfist (possibly one of his missing siblings). It's probably far too early to ask this, but will the next books feature heroes from this one?

@ Cepheus : the storyline started in Book 1 is pursued in the other books (mainly Books 2 and 3) so yes, some characters will return :)

Great! Thanks for that, I thought the ending was a bit of a cliffhanger (sorry, I cheated by looking at the maps in the editor). Can't wait to see Lord Harke in action. So anyway, for map 3, I think it's possible to survive by keeping Solmyr and Emilia behind Arcania's garrison for a few weeks. :)

I wonder if you'll also address Lysander's quest to find his sister :) Though the campaign seems to be in a more epic level with faction wars.

I am finding the 3rd map-"End of Peace" I think its called. A bit difficult Ihave restarted few times already. I'dont know if I should attempt to take out Purple. I could certainly use the gold so that I can build a massive army for the battle with red near the end

So far, that second map is one of my favorites of H5. I love rushing and getting all 3 purple castles by day one of week TWO! :O)

Nice job so far guys.

@ Wraith : Is HoF patched to 2.1 ? If yes, then I'm sorry I have no idea where youe problem comes from. My best advice would be to save regurlarly...

Vyse0 on the heroes-fr forums suggested that map 3 is less stable because it is more ressource-hungry (in typical Heroes 5 fashion...) So my advice would be : save regurlarly (activate the automatic save) and if indeed it crashes simply reload your game, it should be able to pass through the point where it previously crashed. I really have no other solution as I haven't experienced this myself on my computer.

I told myself I would reinstall H5 when you publish this, and so I did! :)

I’ve just finished Part 1 of Book 1 and I am impressed. True, the scenarios are generic and the AI is non-existent as always, but there are more good points than bad ones. The adventure maps are well-executed while the story is a nostalgic crossover featuring Solmyr, Armageddon’s Blade and Kreegan spaceships. However, most of all I enjoyed the customization; the graphics look professional and I simply loved the H3 Inferno theme!

(Oh, I played HoF 2.0 - no bugs or crashes!)
