Tribes Video and Shots

Unread postby Angelspit » 18 Jul 2007, 02:37

Internet problems prevented me from telling you about the Tribes of the East videos that were taken at Chinajoy 2007. During a short tutorial mission you get to see creatures, Stronghold heroes and the very peculiar orcish spellbook. The quality of the movie is mediocre and you can't hear much, but seeing the content of the expansion in action is quite exciting. DaystarDragon was kind enough to put them on Youtube.

In the forums, Eternor posted a couple of pretty screenshots showing the Orc faction in action. In this thread, evilp explains briefly how combination artifacts will work.

You are one of the very few and I do look around.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Whatever, keep telling yourself that.

I found the video pretty interesting as it shows hints of the orcs skills/abilities, shows the new units and their alternative upgrades - even in action and rather improved cutscenes. Lengthy cutscenes :)

Too bad we did not get a peek inside an orc town!

Interesting. Cutscenes still seem mediocre at best, but the orc units show some promise, at least in looks.

Bad quality vids. Still, the orcs seem interesting enough.

@ Wraith

Green unit..."Poisonous Wyvern".

By the way, anybody else notice the Centaur ability? When attacked in melee, they step back OUT of melee and retaliate with a ranged attack. Nice.

Yeah they should be dangerous to take on with furies :) Unless they don't retreat against no retaliation units.

Logically, they shouldn't. Although if one considers it another way, ANY ranged unit should be able to shoot back at the fury whilst she returns.

That's not the only illogic thing about Furies.

What bothered me during the open beta (and asked them a couple of times to implement) was that I couldn't use the Ctrl key to have Strike-and-Stay i/o Strike-and-Return, as a way to move the unit AND do some damage. I'm not sure if they fixed that with a patch, but I find it illogic that moving & attacking exclude each other as actions.
