Tribes of the East Interview

Unread postby Angelspit » 18 May 2007, 13:38

Heroic Corner links to an <a href="/http://games.mail.ru/platform/pc/interv ... >interview in Russian with a Nival representative. Here is what I can gather from an automatic translation:

The three campaigns will feature the Orcs, the Academy and the Necropolis.

Rob King has once again worked on the score.

Isabel, Freyda, Duncan, Wulfstan and Zehir will return.

Arantir will be the Big Bad Villain.

Orcs hate demons and wish to battle Biara.

Nival claims that the orcish castle will feature the most unusual and beautiful architecture of the entire Heroes series.

No real surprise here, but perhaps our Russian-speaking readers will be able to add more.

So the Sylvan isn't going to be featured at all in the campaigns again?

With eight towns and twelve campaigns, there wasn't room for everyone:

Haven Std / HoF
Necropolis Std / ToE
Academy Std / ToE
Sylvan Std only
Inferno Std only
Dungeon Std / HoF
Fortress HoF only
Orcs ToE only

Some of those campaigns were mix-and-matches of various factions and heroes. For example, we never had a true Inferno campaign.

@HP

Well not only them but neither Infenro, Dungeon, Fortress would be playable in campaign. Sure they are one of my favs, but whats the big catch with them not being in campaign?

Great news btw, Im very curious at this architecture...

I'm glad to hear that we'll get another Necro campaign.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Zehor was on of my favourite characters, glad he is back and we finally get some more academy action. The necro campaign is another reason to rejoice!

Since this is a stand-alone product, I guess the returning heroes will once again not be the same ones I spent so much time on developing in their previous campaigns.

I had hoped that the feature of returning heroes would be implemented in the case of Hammers of Fate (Raelag, Isabel), but since it did not happen there, there is probably not even a slight chance that the feature of returning heroes will be implemented in Tribes of the East. At least I can hope for some better (and preferably unique) special abilities for some of them.

No Rocs/Thunderbirds? :(

I'm a little out of the H5 loop. :)

But seriously, do we really need orc warriors AND chieftains? Shouldn't the latter be the upgrade of the former. That gives us a spot for Rocs!

Agree with corribus. But you know the creativity rules for Ubival. Oh well...maybe neutral Thunderbirds? And i really hope they wont have dragon wings like the Phoenixes!

I really hope this Cyclops turns out to be a shooter because if they only have one at the Level 2 spot, then this faction will be really difficult to play as.

Yeah, Inferno only has one, but at least theirs is a Level 4 and upgraded has a chain shot.

Goblins run away? That sounds like fun. Overall, the lineup seems solid, except for the Centaurs, who seem to have wandered in from Greek mythology. Why not just have Hobgoblins or something orc-like to be the low level shooter?
Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

Oh, and in case you couldn't figure it out yourselves or Nival didn't shove it down your throats enough since they don't think the fans are smart enough to get it, this faction consists of Orcs (i.e. Orc Warrior, Orc Shaman, Orc Chieftain).

I'm surprised they didn't put the word Orc in front of the other remaining units as well.

Pretty much Dark Messiah content which is no surprise. :) All orc units were on the Island, the goblins are cowards, Paokai and cyclops, and Arantir! I hope that guy who did Arantir's voice in Dark Messiah, will return also in ToE.

Academy probably will feature a hero named Menelag, Orcs will have Aratrok.

Seeing that the original voices of secondary characters from H5 did not return I doubt they would contact the ones from another game.

Yeah, there's nothing this one needs more then another Orc unit. And why aren't you picking on the Wyvern, i don't recall Tolkien having them, or even better, the Cyclops, he's also Greek myth.
