What's that High Druid got on his head? A coon skin cap?

Some of those new abilities sound cool...but what is wrong with that Rainbow Dragon?!

Why are most of the new units bluish?

Why do Sharpshooters shoot only once? (unless force arrow is that good)

Why...what have they done with my poor Wood Elves?!

Seems that Nival really likes that alien treant and is afraid to change it in something different. Only color changed and added more leaves and something strange coming from his mouth. Unicorn is cartoon-like to me (because of purple glow I guess).

Can't say I like any of them, there is too much similary with present ones. Too bad, Sylvan is (was) my favorite town.

Oy!The least Nival could have done was add a two headed lizard that attacks itself when it goes berzerk.

That would be really funny, grimogre!

Perhaps they'll do it, they like senseless stuff like that! :D

I'm waiting to see what the Dungeon dragon upgrade will be. I'm thinking "Absensce of Light Dragon." It could be so much more than a clone of the black dragon.

And maybe the Necros will get a Dead Dragon. It's just dead. Heap of bones. That would totally minimize Nival's need to use their imagination thinking of interesting units.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Don't worry Saturas, other factions will get comparable upgrades. So, chances are, Sylvan will still be your favorite ;)

ROFL!

Those upgrades are all worth it , if only to see these hilarious comments. Puts a big smile on my face after a tiresome day :)

I really don't see what all the fuss is about - we have got only a few alternative unit upgrade names and pictures, and suddenly for someone the excitement level drops to 50%, for another - that Nival can't think of anything else and just plain sucks. I for one still can't wait for the expansion - the new upgrades IMO look really nice.

P.S. And Rainbow dragon is cool too!

Well, I'm looking forward to it too. But I think they can come up with some better names for a couple of them.

Anger Treant? What, he's pissed off all the time?

Rainbow Dragon?

That's because from these few pictures we can already predict the trend (graphic style) of the other alternative upgrades, which are basically going to be paint jobs. With that said, I'm still 50% excited :)

I do agree with many posters here that the abilities of these new units are more important and hopefully they're going to be more imaginative with those.

I'm not even going to bother with the names because I already have low expectations for those.

Look at it this way, we get tons of new units, and more important, abilities. We could have gotten stuff like a unicorn with a surround attack, or a blade dancer with rage or something stupid, but we get *new* abilities. Sure the names could use some work, (Anger Treant?) but things are looking good, the blue thing is kinda weird but whatever, the models look great, if not too different.

I mean with upgrades we can't expect *new* units, we can only hope for good models, and new abilities and tactical options. It would be a lot worse then "Rainbow Dragon" if they made the Black Dragon alternative upgrade the red dragon. Or heck, the Azure. It wouldn't work. Personally though a frost or Crystal dragon would own this Rainbow stuff. I don't like rainbows. Unless they give me extra luck. All in all, looks good to me, we don't have to bash Nival *all* the time, personally I am glad their doing such a new and ambitious thing. Better then some more map objects, items, and worthless maps. By the way, my excitement for the expansion went up 50% when I saw the sharpshooter pict ;)

Yep, and the picture confirms it. :D

The Haven alternatives will have to be the red ones from HoF.

call me crazy .... but to me it's a pre-requisite that a rainbow dragon would be rainbow hued, not bluey-green .... that's a bluey-green dragon, rainbows have lots of colours

Is It not obvious that this are the "brothers from the north" of the elves?
They all seem to come from a colder place then the nice warm woods of the normal elves.
the new sprite looks like she has frost on her arms and the flowers looks frosty too, the bladesinger(how about slinger instead) has a scarf and the swords looks like they're covered with frost, the druid wears a wolf- which lives in cold areas ,the unicron simply looks like his made of ice (camouflage maybe?) the treant also seems abit frosty and ofcourse the rainbow dragon also- That would explain the bluish theme..

other then that, treant union? wth? giving her scoial rights and makes sure she gets minimum wage?
