New Map Recapitulation

Unread postby Angelspit » 03 Feb 2007, 16:14

I am sure you notice the maps that scroll to the top of this page, weeks after weeks. The minimaps of Artas1984's maps, among others, were particularly pretty. Here is a quick summary of the maps that were posted during the last two weeks, thanks to the assistance of Sauron (the non-Mordor one):

<li><a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... earch">The Roman Empire</a> (Heroes III SoD -- extra large) by Jimmy Hutchinson

<li><a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... rch">Might Makes Right</a> (Heroes V: Std -- small) by Terrance

<li><a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... earch">All For One</a> (Heroes V: HoF -- medium) by Neckie

<li><a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... rch">Under One Another</a> (Heroes III: ROE -- small) <a href="/">Clashing Trilogy</a> (Heroes III: RoE -- XL) <a href="/">Death in Tatalia</a> (Heroes III: RoE -- XL) and <a href="/">Sky Tower</a> (Heroes III: SoD -- XL) by Artas1984

<li><a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... earch">The Atoll Island</a> (Heroes III: SoD -- medium) by Tiare

<li><a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... h">Warlord 2v2v2v2</a> (Heroes V: HoF -- large) by Gaping_MAW. This is a modified version of the Nival-made map, with allied play and recruitable Dwarven heroes.

Check out Qurqurish Dragon's review of <a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... ch">Triple Trouble</a> (hit the review button in the database listing): <i>"A straight forward battle map, the various positions are separated by varying strength guards, so each position has one foe that is harder to get to, forming an almost natural set of early conflicts, with the winner of each pair going after the other."</i> Three maps are currently being playtested and should be ready soon.

It's nice to see that people are still making H3 maps.

Heroes III is still Nr.1

Only noobs play H5, good experienced players stick with H2/H3, where the UNDAMAGED essennce is.
Heroes franchise was not about the free actions of Heroes or monsters, it was not about 3D of shiny graphics either, it was about diversity and balance, simplicity of gameplay and realistic picture, strategy in it's purest form. That's why Heroes 3 will be the greatest game of all, because only Heroes 3 has all those qualities together, no matter which one you personally like more. This statement is unquestionable, uncriticized and undeniable .

This is ridicioulus, i even get a stupid H4 avatar. That's a shame. I don't want it! I'd rather be a H2 peasant:-)

Could you define "soon"? :)

Quote Qurqurish Dragon's review of Triple Trouble

"Somehow my opponents got some phoenix and their armies and emerald dragons in the garrisons. I did not see any way for this to happen, other than somehow drawing them out of the neutral garrisons. Checking in the editor did not reveal any clues."

It happens when garrisons have too many large creatures guarding it. 7 large creatures as in TT need 28 squares, so they don't fit in the battlefield. Result is that you can recruit those creatures.

True heroes don't need a grid.

Vlad, seeing as you are an old and experienced Heroes fan, you know, almost a critic, it's hard to believe were you stick to..

But that's ok, there are DIEHARD fans like me, who don't want to know anything else past Heroes III... :-)

H4 Is Awesome, liked the rpg elements. I changed my pict no problem though, I hated that peasant :P the one thing H4 did do wrong was some of the models, but otherwise a worthy addition. I don't want to just pay for new graphics like H3-5 though, but the skill system pulled me in.

I feel for the blight of your peasantry Artas, seriously. It is the funniest though :)
