OSX barbarians at the gates of HOMM

Unread postby Hambone » 31 Oct 2006, 20:55

Hail satiated PC gamers! Hambone here from Macland to report the news from on high. Yesterday, Freeverse Vice President Colin Smith contacted HOMMV for OSX! with the good word that a feature-complete build of HOMMV is now running under OSX and has entered the first round of testing! This follows just three weeks after Freeverse posted a little teaser shot of HOMMV purportedly running on OSX.

While this puts the port ahead of schedule, many details remainl unknown: will the Map Editor be ported? Will the game run on PPC and Intel Mac hardware? Will I get to ignore annoying Uncle Schmekie over Christmas by playing HOMMV instead? Hopefully the testing will go well and all will be revealed within the next few weeks.

And will the expansion(s) be ported as well? That was an important omission in Heroes IV.
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

"bar‧bar‧i‧an  /bɑrˈbɛəriən/
a person in a savage, primitive state; uncivilized person."

Describes a Mac user quite well. :P

Most importantly: Will maps designed under OSX or on the PC be playable on the other platform?

Hmm... If Mac users are barbarians for you , then I wonder how would you describe people using GNU/Linux or BSD systems ???

You illiterate clods. "Barbarians at the gates" is an old cliche meaning broadly that something big is about to happen, or more narrowly that a threat is about to be faced. What I meant was that Mac users are about to be "released" into the world of HOMMV as the port is nearly completed!
