Renegade Units Listed

Unread postby Angelspit » 02 Sep 2006, 03:08

Today, Jolly Joker opened a thread at the Round Table where he lists the renegade units of the upcoming Hammers of Fate expansion. That information was made public by Nival earlier. Here is a quick summary of the alternative upgrades, along with their abilities:

Level 1: Brute (Tax Payer; Shield Bash)

Level 2: Crossbowman (Shoots; Rapid Fire)

Level 3: Vindicator (Cleave)

Level 4: Battle Griffin (Large, Flyer, Unlimited Retal, Battle Frenzy)

Level 5: Zealot (Shoots, No Melee Penalty, Caster)

Level 6: Champion (Large, Champion Charge)

Level 7: Fallen Angel (Large; Flyer, Life Drain)

I'm still trying to catch up on the things that happened while I was gone. With both Hammers of Fate (I think Farmers of Hate would have been a better title, but that's just me) and Dark Messiah coming out before the end of the year, I'm very excited about coming back to "work".

well, i for one think they managed quite well to capture the feeling of violent evil people, and just by the names of the abilities... now if they could only do this for all other factions....

Does anyone find that a bit odd? Traditionally, crossbows are slow to fire, because of the reloading. Unless it's a Renegade Superduper Rapid Fire Crossbow-o-Matic (tm) of course...

Anywho, that lineup lookes a bit like they drew the names out of a hat.

Oh I see, it's not really a new town, just new skins on the Haven for upgrade purposes.

Speaking for myself, I like "Forbidden Mountain" for a title. :) Anyway, I like the idea of dwarves. I just don't like the so-call lava dragon artwork!

Yes, crossbows are in fact slower to use than bows. Maybe the dwarves developed an automatic crossbow. Load several bolts into the loading chamber and you are good to go.

@addicted
Looks more like a Lava Lizard to me. Or Lava Raptor.

If the dwarves native terrain is snow, which I assume it is, then why is their best unit a fire dragon? It doesn't make any sense. I was really hoping for an ice drake or something.

Talk about sense whan you have read the lore. Dwarves are worshipers of Dragon of Fire and magma/lava dragons are his highest servants.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

Makes sense, you don't live long in artic enviroments without fire. My problem is the fact that the Phoenix would have made a way better lvl7. Heck, the darn Lava Drake has all the abilities the Phoenix traditionaly has in Heroes games.

There is a cosy little place here on earth called iceland :devious:

Anyhow, that could be a repeating crossbow,a thing so popular in fantasy games(though Im not sure a single repeating crossbow was developed in real life). But the name repeating-crossbowman would be a little too silly, even for nival.

Over thousand years ago in China. Watch Buffy the vampire slayer I'm almost sure she used crossbow with automatic reload. About 4-5 quarrels.

About these renegades, are they supposed to be fighting the Haven troops, like some sort of civil war?

Seem like they're fighting the dwarfs. Maybe they're the demons way to make sure the humans aren't helped by the dwarves.

Looks like the Mountain clan from Disciples II got somehow teleported into the wrong territory.
In the world of the Dead, its nice to be alive,I think.
