Operation Patch

Unread postby Angelspit » 09 Aug 2006, 13:50

RPGDot has news of a new Czech patch for Heroes of Might and Magic V that brings the game to version 1.021. The update was created by CD Projekt and fixes some minor localization issues. You can pick it up at 3D Gamers.

On GameSpot, there is a discussion about patching the digital purchase version of the game distributed by Boonty Games (and advertised by the big gaming site). It appears that neither the standard patches nor the previous digital purchase patch work with the Boonty version. According to a member of the GameSpot forums, Boonty initially claimed that this was not their problem. However, they recently found the solution to the problem and passed the updated patch onto Ubisoft for QA testing. The updated digital purchase patch will be posted soon, according to a GameSpot representative.

Good news!

Esepcially because the german version could need a lift to 1.021 too.

but one question.... is such an "inofficial" patch from third parties compatible with future official patches?

If not then an uninstaller would be a good idea too.

Localization issues, I take it these are mostly translation issues then. If so then an official follow up patch should be able to be installed over/next to it, without need to remove the fan-patch. But that's just speculation.

2soupnazii: well this patch (for czech version only) wasn't released by Nival/Ubisoft, but by czech distributor CDProjekt - it repairs only untranslated texts, not game bugs. so it is not mini patch between 1.2 and 1.3 that was in announcement

The funny thing is CDProjekt is polish company, yet still no patch fixing bugs in polish version...
