Thanks to arturchix who found a post by former New World Computing employee Tim Lang at the <a href="/http://telp.org/cgi-bin/anyboard.cgi/mm ... Wz=0">TELP Might and Magic IX Tavern</a>. The game designer is now working for Nival, although by the time I write this he hasn't revealed anything about his project:

<ul>

<li>About his new job: "Nival just opened a US studio, and I'm their first designer."

<li>About the Might and Magic community: "I'm really amazed that not only is this community still thriving, but that people are still playing MMIX... so much has happened since we pushed that game out the door that it seems like an eternity since it shipped. It's awesome that you guys still play what I see as a tiny slice of my life."

<li>About Oblivion: "I see so many of the same elements that we were trying to do with MM9 that you could almost call Oblivion MM10."</ul>

Tim Lang is also an advisor on the Might and Magic Tribute project. I spoke to him <a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/118">back in 2004</a>, when he had just joined Electronic Arts.

I agree. This is good news. It is nice to see the signs that this series might survive for a few more years. G (-:

Well my thought is, if 3DO sold out to UBI and they now own the M&M series and Arkane Studios is doing might and magic's DM, I can't imagine UBI letting Nival take over any of the M&M series. I would think UBI would let Arkane continue with the series myself.. and it would really make me cringe to think any of the might and magic series would be turned over to Nival, puke! It's too bad Tim Lang ended up with Nival, wish he would have went to UBI or Arkane myself..

Did he say where the new studio is located?

No, but Nival announced a while ago that the new studios would be located in L.A.

always good to see an NWC face around the place, but lets hope it rubs off on nival, or that nival US maybe has better "luck"

Another post from Tim: "As far as I know, no MMX is in the works. I am working on some cool stuff that I can't talk about though!"
