Ubisoft Posts a New Manual

Unread postby Angelspit » 01 Aug 2006, 16:40

<img src="/http://muad.com/special/h5/CA_M&M_Fire.gif" align=right vspace=10 hspace=10>Today, the Heroes V producer <a href="/http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... nounced</a> the release of a fan-made game manual for Heroes V. It was created by <a href="/http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/li ... hp?15">Age of Heroes</a> at Fabrice's request. It contains a series of tables about the game, including some information that Nival kept secret until today, as well as the artwork from several anonymous artists who submitted their work to Nival Interactive for a contest. This manual is the first and only work to have received the UbiSoft seal of approval (shown on the right), an initiative that might later extend to maps, mods and other fan-made material. Beware: at nearly 50 megabytes, it's not a small download. Pick it up <a href="/ftp://ftp.ubi.com/emea/homm5/community/ ... p">here</a>.

Localized versions of the manual will be available soon, thanks to Archangel Castle, Drachenwald, Heroic Corner and La Torre de Marfil.

"Some" info's the same, but this one has MUCH more detailed info in regards to formulas, stats, percentages, etc. And there's also some of the CH stuff in there too. Skill wheels IIRC.

Took their sweet time though, to make something that should have been available at release ;)

Nice piece of work, would cost me 75 euro's to print myself. I'll have to think about that. But very usefull, I wish I had this when I started playing H5.

Actually, I've now found at least two areas were we have better coverage ;)

Hehe after reading the manual, I learnt many things I havent explored in game like Arcane Brilliance and Exellence, neither didnt I know anything about town specialisations, which is a very nice innovation I must say, now it also depend which town you start with. Think I got +2 knowledge today lol :p

My memory is terrible though. Hard to play and read at the same time. I will probably only print out the information I find most useful.

The only difference that i am aware of is whether after reaching the threshold (1 or 100 does not matter) the counter is set to zero (according to"official" manual) or the threshold value is substracted from it. Since they most likely got their info from Nival, they *should* be correct. But since my experiences do not support their version, i am wondering myself whether there was a misunderstanding of Nival information or whether the game does not work as Nival believes it to work (bug) or maybe it is just me, who is stupid. In conclusion, Ido not know for sure what to believe at the moment.

EDIT later. It might easily be that i was just lucking imagination and the UI is once again rounding some stuff not showing precise info. Thus, most probably they have correct info and i was mistaken.

Very, very nice manual! Can't say it is better or worse than the "unofficial" one produced on this site, but they certainly pack a lot of good stuff in there. I never know I could touch a swan... thought they were just eye candies. I like the art works especially.

Regarding difficulty and neutral stacks:

This manual says neutrals are 50% larger on heroic but the experience is nerfed to be the same. This is contrary to our previous belief of 40% larger and no experience change, which only applies to the MP case as the manual suggests. Not sure whether this is true?

I was looking hard for the chance of warding arrow to trigger (nice to know it pushes back 20% ATB). Anyone knows? :-D

Very nice, I am really impressed. This is really great!

But I find it ironic UBI has to have 'outside' people to write a manual for them, hope they got paid for their work.. :)

Sorry to disappoint you, but they did not... Let's hope this isn't a new trend in the PC gaming industry, cutting the content of the manual knowing that some fans somewhere will eventually create a replacement.

Nice manual!
But what do you mean they didn't get payed? They worked hard on this manual an Ubi just said "Hmm, this looks nice, + it'll get all those annoying fans off our backs about a manual. Let's put our logo on it!" :disagree:
