Heroes Still in the Top Ten

Unread postby Angelspit » 06 Jul 2006, 14:02

Another week, another PC Games sales chart. It's not real surprise that Worlds of Warcraft topped the sales for the week of June 18-24 -- and the other games on that chart are just a rearangement of the previous weeks' results. Heroes of Might and Magic V is on 9th place, surrounded by other strategy/RPG games (Oblivion, Age of Empires III and Guild Wars Factions). The game is still selling well, but it gets beaten by titles that were released quite a while ago. Visit GameSpot for the full list.

I wonder if there will ever be another Heroes game that would last months on the chart - like Heroes 2.

Not even Galactic Civilizations 2 are on the list anymore so I'd say it's all over for TBS regarding staying power on the topten lists. I'ts the online era now.

Is it naive of me to think Heroes would have had a better position if the in-game documentation had been sufficient?

@ChinaBlue

Saleswise, yes. But it would certainly rate better imo.

but what about the "newbies" who, because of the lack of information, ditched the game early and spread the word..that might have effected the game saleswise.

Have you seen the documentation of most games nowadays? Most newbies probably bought it because of the graphics, and for those people documentation isn't exactly that important.

Don't give up on TBS just yet. Civ 4 had a nice run on the top 10, just fell off a week or two ago.

Are the sales of Heroes insufficient to justify expansion packs etc? I thought the initial sales were excellent? Do all games need to have a long run on the gamespot list... I don't think all the sales outside the U.S. are considered when composing this list...

The sales are sufficient for Expansions. People are just dissapointed that TBS's don't stay in the charts as long as MMO's or other games.
