Written by a55a55in:

Heroes V French publishers Ubisoft had just published their results for the fiscal March 31, 2006, showing an interesting financial outcome. Although their net sales shows a slight increase to $688.6 million, comparing with last year sales: 670.3 million, their net profits was $15 million, declining from $31.1 million last year. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stressed that they will expecting a sales growth, thanks to the launch of 5 new high-potential brands, including Heroes of Might and Magic V.

I’m not an economist, but judging on recent actions taken for Heroes V, Ubisoft revenues may show an improvement. For further read, check out this link. Anyhow, it’s good to be back at the reporting world!

I think it's because the developers put too much time into the graphics. They thought they were going to have a larger contingent than the past Heroes games, but it turned out to be the same contingent. But since the developers spent so much damn money putting graphics on the game, they lost sight of what really mattered, playability. So they lost $$$$ on the Heroes front IMO. Not sure about the other games. Let that be a lesson to you all!

Just to avoid any confusion, the sales figures of Heroes V will be taken into account in the results for the next quarter. That's why Guillemot expects better sales for that period.

hmmmmmmm, if that is so I take back my comment and add this one:

Surely there will be a larger profit due to HOMM V because they spent almost all their time on hype and no time on taking the beta to a real product ( I feel like I'm playing a beta)

All that extra money saved on employees when they could have been fixing the game = profit! :)

Profits always decrease when you expand. We'll be seeing in the next quarter if it paid off making H5 sHINY.
