Yahoo Reviews Heroes V

Unread postby Angelspit » 23 May 2006, 14:34

Tom Chick reviewed Heroes of Might and Magic V for <a href="/http://videogames.yahoo.com/gamereview? ... ">Yahoo</a>. He praises the graphics, the single-player mode (<i>"single-player is, by and large, right on the money"</i>) and the aggressivity of the computer player. However, the lack of a map editor, the tiny printed documentation and the badly-written in-game help hurt the game's final score. The state of the multiplayer component was a disappointment to the author:

<i>"As of a week after the game's release in Europe, multiplayer support is in an awful state. Games fall out of sync and the ghost tricks seem to break the game more than they help it."</i>

While we wait for the Gamespot and GameSpy reviews, we will work on a summary of all the reviews we missed until now. This will give everyone a better idea of Heroes V's critical success so far.

Good ? Maybe it is more fun than playing in sand with a bucket and shovel, but that's not good enough.
Veldryn 15:15 And Vel found a dirty old jawbone of a walrus and put forth his hand, and took it, and in his unholy rage, he slew thirty four thousand men and children therewith.

Awful multiplayer. No surprise there. HoMM isn't multiplayer friendly.

I'd say it's the opposite.

Gamespot has H5 review on their site...
"Thou shall feel the wrath of the Dragons! Tremble in fear, your end is nigh!" - The Dragon Prophet
"Do you like fire? I'm full of it..." - Deathwing

I may be in the minority here...but for YEARS now my wife and I have played single player and hot-seat only. We really enjoy hot-seat or LAN, either way as our only MP experience. I have never played other MP options.

SP and Hot-Seat are my necessities and they are included! Yeah!

No map editor/generator though?!

What gives with that?

Also missing...High Score Listings...? I can't find them anywhere...

There is no highscore table.Although some say they found it in game, but its being disabled.Maybe it will be enabled via a pacth. And the editor will come soon.

I want random map generator, as in H2 & H3. They were funny enough in the long run. Did the yahoo-guy say there were no random generator in earlier games? And yeah - hotseat is the best, safest way. Or direct linking. And to all of you complaining about a three-days-wait: My computer is far to weak to play H5, I have to wait till autumn... And buy a new one then

As I recal RMG's were expansion features in the previous HoMM games.

Yes, the RMG came with AB in heroes 3, and I think it came with PoL for heroes 2. I don't think H1 had an RMG.
