True, true. I haven't even seen my preordered game yet. Not even scheduled for delivery until Thursday, May 25th. Grrrrr! indeed.

First Patch Announced

Unread postby Orfinn » 21 May 2006, 15:17

Well spoken Bandoras Took. Couldnt said it better thanks to my not so good english. Every time I visit a forum or thread, and see the name Deamian Lucifer or Thunder Titan, I think OMG what are they going to sarcasm or complain to death now? They deserva freaking week trying to create H6 then we see how good they are, they who say they can do it better. Its pathetic, I also enjoyed reading the heroes forum, now its just a pile of trash from the insane post race between DL and TT.

But hell, lets forget this insanity anyway lets continue on and enjoy H5, well expect DL ofcourse. They who dont like the game can always play the oldies :)

I just get tired of reading the same completely invalid complaints over and over. I've been coming to these forums because I enjoy Heroes games, but the Heroes 5 forum, thanks to a few spammers, aren't about that any more. The forum has been hijacked into one about complaining, and that no matter what decision Ubi makes regarding Heroes 5.

It's rude. It's sickening. And it's not even intelligently done. Ubi continues to work on the game after its release, showing a good start at post-release patching, and people are apparently lining up to say that Ubi should be doing better. Gratitude and Courtesy are apparently lost arts on Celestial Heavens nowadays.

Here's a jewel of a response to their efforts on the patch:
ToweringAmishPlumber wrote: I will expect to see posts from all those fans who spent the last few years frequently complaining about the too early, buggy and unfinished release of Heroes IV! Because frankly it sounds like that is exactly what Nival is doing. However, since V seems to be an expansion (with 3D) of III perhaps everyone will excuse these issues.
We're still hearing the illiterate H3 expansion complaint. People choose to ignore the skill system, the initiative system, the town point system, the shrink to six factions from nine, the units with selectable spells, and faction-specific abilities (all of which I'm sure have been mentioned somewhere on the Heroes V forum, and none of which were in Heroes 3, hence the word "illiterate" -- people are only bothering to read what they want) in favor of diatribe. This one's even gone so far as to compare a balance patch for the campaigns in a week and a half from H5's release with H4's how-many-month wait for multiplayer.

I have no desire to see yet another complaining spammer who doesn't bother to think his way through his posts before posting come along. There are already too many, and I don't have much of a desire to continue seeing their posts, either. I'll undoubtedly be the one to leave first, so I'll wish them well and hope that another game comes out soon about which they need to complain more. Then maybe I can come back and see intelligent discussion of Heroes 5 and its development which is why I used to frequent these forums.

But the bashers are never satisfied, and it's become nauseating.
You know what, I'm going to throw my hat into the ring and agree with you on this one. Countless claims about the 'cloneiness' of HV is disgusting, as we have now seen the final product and it is much different than H3, and frankly could be better spent complaining about the myriad of games that really are clones of one another(check out E3 for that.) And also, UBI is releasing this patch for the easy mode much faster than I had previously thought, though any HOMM fan knows of that god-awful-horrible-boredem-days that were caused by the long wait for the HOMM4 patch. Honestly, I would have rather seen the map editor with the main game but if UBI makes good on their promise of delivering the editor and all the other fixes in a short amount of time, as in sooner than mid July, then they have done good enough(although it should have been there in the first place.) That really is the key here, if UBI makes good on their promise or not. We'll just have to see, because if they do make good on said promise than I think the HOMM community is going to have a friendship for quite a long time, with UBI, but if they don't make good...well, who knows.

I'm glad I'm not the only one tired of DL and TT and other minor bashers endlessly ruining every thread. You'd think they'd get tired of the flaming, trolling and bashing eventually, but so far they're continuing in record time, proud of their massive spam-filled postcounts.

Derek: Hmmm...illiterate! Strange, I'm not aware of any misspellings,

grammatical or syntax errors in my posting. Perhaps you mean misinformed or lacking sufficient knowledge? By the way, you might want to run your posting through a syntax checker and I can't seem to find "cloneiness" in any dictionary. Now, before you get too pissed off at me, you are absolutely right (if you really mean misinformed)!

I ordered Heroes V several weeks ago and haven't received it yet, so I really don't know what I'm talking about. I intend to try and play it with an open mind. However, I still stand by the first part of my earlier posting. I have been playing Heroes since my wife bought me

Heroes of Might and Magic (I) when it was first released and have followed fan web sites for years. Almost immediately upon the release of Heroes IV, the various forums seemed to contain postings comparing Heros IV to the end of civilization as we know it, worse than

hunger, poverty, cancer, etc. Since I happen to like Heroes IV, I've gotten REALLY, REALLY tired of wading through an apparently unending tirade of complaints about the game. Hence my original posting.

Gee, for us U.S. people, these early patch's might be a blessing.. Just think once we get our game, we don't have to wait on the patch, we can patch it up before we even start! For us who have to wait for ours to be mailed, they may have a second patch out by that time! :) Like HP, I too have to wait until the 25th and coming by ground means I probably won't get mine until the following week.. and if I don't get a compatible dvd-rom put in my computer, I won't be able to play at all. If that happens, I may have a stroke!!!!! :)

Anyone know more about this patch, and the exact date of release?

See I'm really struggling to get into the heroes mode again, its been like 4 years since I played the last game.... had a little touch up again earlier today, it was fun, all the memories just flowing back :D even played heroes I! But anyhow, so far I'm really enjoying the new game, loving the graphics and the new looks of the creatures :D

OMG ... what if anything do these have to do with core gameplay??

Oh, sorry .... my mistake, I forgot that you were just finding something to diss

FFS you don't play a Heroes game "hoping you'll become attracted to it" ... geezus You play it for what it is, if you are having to search for enjoyment, perhaps look somewhere else

I happen to be really enjoying this game, and I too am playing thru it slowly, because I think it does shine!! It's not perfect, but what PC game is? I can play it for 6 hours straight without many problems at all (and none of those affect core gameplay)

It is all about the gameplay, you either like it or you don't, if you don't then so be it, but must you continually deride the game, and whine about it??

it seems you must, i feel sorry that you cannot let go of your predisposition (and please don't try to deny THAT), and enjoy it for what it is .... a very rare, initially excellent TBS with potential for better things to come ....

I agree  , it's all about the gameplay and so far that's great! I've had fun so far and the graphics was nothing like I feared they would be so I'm pleased :-D

One request to people here: STOP commenting on spelling errors in other people's posts. It doesn't matter how it's spelled as long as it is understandable ;)

Well considering core gameplay only H5 is a clone of H3 isn't it. A clone with alot of things missing. Guess he's asking "why should I play this game when H3 has more things in it"!

A lot.I want to be able to check how much I earn each day so I can plan ahead.I want to be warned if I accidentally forget to move some important hero, and not if some hero waits for the week to end to collect that windmill. And I dont want to flood the map with useless level ones just so I can collect that so much needed extra ore,or those tons of peasants.

Exactly! And that is the main problem, because this game is titled Heroes of Might and Magic. It pains me that I have to put a lot of mental effort in order to enjoy it! :disagree:

Learn to manage your game, DL, don't blame ubi if you can't handle a game of heroes, if you don't know by now that you need to collect things at the start of a new week, then i have little hope for you

caravan are not in the game, neither is the automtic resource gathering ... stiff s&*t, i liked them in HIV, but they're not here, so deal with it and manage your STRATEGY game ....

Please,tell me your secret.

PLAY THE GAME FOR WHAT IT IS, if you are struggling to enjoy it, find something else

it's obvious we have very different viewpoints on this, but what i can;t understand is why you have to continually deride things about the game .... it seems clear you're not enjoying it, so why torture yourself?? go play HIV until HVI comes out and then try that

Yes I do.Because its a heroes game!I want my heroes games perfect, and not buggy and partially finished!

so does everyone ... but get used to disappointment, cause there's no such thing - but the game IMO is excellent and has potential for improvement .... now i can't ask for much more than that

So youre telling me that I need to remember exactly what I did while playing my map yesterday before I saved it,turned of the computer and went outside? Please! And I can handle a game of heroes, than you very much. What I cant handle is this HIII shadow bearing that name.
stefan.urlus wrote:

Strategy? When did tedious micromanagment become strategy?!

And this game lacks features from HIII as well, not just HIV.It seems like they picked just the worst and connected it with lousy 3D.The only bright light I see is initiative bar, heroes specialisations, abilities and (maybe) story.

You mean theres no such thing as a perfect game?True, but there are games I cannot find any flaws in:Starcraft, civilization, myth. The only flaw starcraft has is that its alone. But its maybe better seeing how there almost is no game that didnt get ruined by sequels. The only flaw civ has is that it consumes too much of my time. And the only flaw myth has is that it is so perfectly wrapped up,that there will never be another sequel.
