First Patch Announced

Unread postby Sikon » 20 May 2006, 12:34

Nival representative Alexander Tikhonov has said on the Heroic Corner forums that the first patch for Heroes V will be released next week. It will include the "easy" difficulty mode. He hopes that everyone will have the Haven campaign completed by then.

I cannot read Russian, could you tell us what he says about the patch in detail? I mean what will be addressed, and so on :oex:

Thanks by the way, great heads up!

I guess we will find out soon enough. I hope someday they will change the brutal "You Lose!" message when you fail on your mission objectives... That's even worse than the "Game Over" message of the old coin-ops.

I have probably offended you in this post. if you take it too harshly, it's your own responsability. I, for my part, never intended to.

Why does he hope everyone will have finished the Haven campaign by then? :|

Just when I finally finished "The Conquest". Oh well, I bet I'll run into even harder stuff later, so bring on "Easy"!

I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps it's just a way of saying that players will keep trying to play at normal and manage to finish the Haven campaign anyway.

There is such a thing called relese day patch. This game seems like it would have greatly benefitted from one.

You have got to be kidding me. They release a patch within a week and half (and note that Heroes 5 is still unavailable where I live) and you're whining that it isn't soon enough?

Or did I misunderstand the intent of your comment?

You kinda did. I don't think it's late, i'm just unimpresed. The game's been gold for a month now. Plenty of time to corect all the spelling errors and make an easy mode.

For some of us, it will be a first day patch. Grrrrr.

So,this means they started working on the patch before the game was in the stores? Why did they ship the game then?I though that we saved the heroes and that it will be a finished game once it comes out.

They kept working on the game after Ubisoft started packaging and distributing the game boxes. That's why a patch can be ready so early.

SaveHeroes was set up to prevent things like multiplayer from being dropped in the shipped version... things like 3 duel mode presets (we have 18), etc.

A patch is done during the "Gold" status because nothing is ever bug-free on release, not even old console games
