Faction Resource Chart

Unread postby Angelspit » 09 May 2006, 15:06

<img src="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/homm5/ ... /fort3.jpg" align=right vspace=10 hspace=10>The very informative <a href="/http://the-genies-lamp.com/">Genie's Lamp</a> has a chart comparing the resource requirements for all Heroes of Might and Magic V factions. The goal was to put things in perspective in the debate about the competitiveness of each town (<a href="/http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/ ... 34/p/1">on the official forum</a>). The Necropolis is very cheap to build up as you will see in the chart. Looks for the May 7 news entry at the Lamp.

So what if their dwellings are cheap if 100 skeletons do almost nothing? Well I'll wait for the final game to see if 1000 skeletons do something (I've heard that necros "increase" their numbers very fast)...

They also raise some of their fallen troops after battle. Cheap and plenty seems to be the stategy for undead. Can't say i'm against it.

To my experience necro has significant problems with ore. Lots os ore is needed for basic dwellings and their prerequistes (including fort to castle that are must for ghosts and dragons).

Sounds like old Knight & Barbarian Heroes II and Stronghold Heroes III problem are returning in a new shape....

And does anybody else find it weird that Sylvan has a higher demand for gems than ACADEMY??? Outrageous! If anybody will play Sylvan in a highlvl tournament then I'll be surprised!

Considering that giants and titans cost gems, but green/emerald dragons cost no precious ressource, it is still more important for academy to ensure gem income.

And after all the complaining about Absolute Luck overpowering the Sylvan town, at that . . . :)

It's also important to note that building costs do not consider weekly troop cost -- if buildings are expensive but troops cheap, then you've got a good "long-run" faction. What surprised me most is how relatively inexpensive the buildings for the Dungeon are when you consider the troops you're getting.
Far too many people speak their minds without first verifying the quality of their source material.

Remember guys that it is going to take a while of "real playtesting" with the released version before balancing can be final. There will likely be a patch (or mod like Equilibris) to balance troop aspects in the future.

Wow Sylvan require alot of wood, crystal and gem but dosent need that much gold luckily, but since the units especially the treants which are darn though and cheap, I guess it balance it out nicely.

Overall, though Sylvan has it pretty good. Cost is about the same as Necro and (IMHO) the buildings are more useful.

Furthermore, it appears that Gems will still be the easiest to get of the precious resources since the Leprechauns also provide them.
