Upcoming Interviews: Send in Your Questions!

Unread postby {CH}ArticleBot » 06 Jan 2017, 20:36

Hi there,

After the development of Heroes VII ended, not much has been happening. In the following weeks, however, we have a bit of a treat for you: we have been able to land some interviews with some of the people who worked on the Heroes series in the past - among others Rob King, Bryan Farina and JVC himself.

So what would you like us to ask them? Comment down below and let us know.

Would JVC consider working with Ubisoft on another Might and Magic game ever again? or if ever given an opportunity buying back the franchise?

JVC: Did HoMM 4 turn out as your original vision of it (base game and expansions)? Where there many differences because of time constraint and pressure form 3DO? Also, did you have any specific plans for the future of the series, both HoMM and M&M, lorewise and gameplaywise?

JVC: How would you rate MMH6 and MMH7 from your subjective point of view? Which potential future would you like to see for this series? Is there any idea which has never been implemented you would like to see in? Are there any spin-offs you'd like to see (which game types if any?)?

RK: Can all the tracks from the H7 Tbf expansion be heard somewhere on the web? How many tracks have you composed for HoMaM in total? Do you personally play such games? How did you enjoy your collaboration with Ubisoft?

JVC: Were you proud of the creature lineups of HOMM IV factions? Were you planning to do radical changes in HOMM V factions due to fan reactions? Which is the faction/town you wished to do for the first time ever in HOMM V?

1. What is the person's current job?
2. What are the person's next ambitions (not just in game industry)?
3. If given an offer, would the person continue working on Might & Magic (or any related franchise)?
4. Did the person play any of the newest installments of Might & Magic?
5. What significant things has the person done since year 2000?

By person, it means all three of the people.

JVC. Would you be willing to work on a project similar to Heroes or M&M ever again? If not why not?

Oh and if the answer is positive, have you considered make a kickstarter campaign for that potential project?

A lot of features were planned for H4, which didn't make it to the final game.
Fx. Several artifacts, many unfinished adventure objects as well as a 'sleeping' portrait and more. An artifact (Blowgun) description mention the ability to perform 'backstabbing'. Were all of these ideas discarded due to time limit/money issues or were some discarded because of ideas not fitting or not having meaningful uses? (e.g. outposts seems to have been thought out to be a warning signal, that enemies approached).

A background story was written for all artifacts and potions, and are even packed in the game files, yet these infos/backgrounds weren't used. Some background stories even relates to the unreleased Unity campaign. How come these backgrounds weren't used? And did Terry Ray write all of these?

Terry Ray stated in an interview, that he had an idea for a story, revealing that Gauldoth, Lysander and Wearjack were indeed brothers. He said the idea was never really finished, yet if you compare their biographies and portraits, some similarities can be found that ties them together. Clearly Wearjack and Lysander has similar facial traits. Were there any plans within the team to pursuit this family connection or were the similarities (bios and portraits) simply setup, to keep this opportunity open for later?

JVC: Let's say you can finish your own version of Heroes V. What idea of heroes would be implemented? Combat heroes on the battlefield like in H4 or passive heroes like in H1-3? And why?

Another one might be hybrid heroes like in H5 - on the sidelines, but can attack units on the battlefield (but the hero can't be attacked in return). Of course that is likely to be in Heroes of the Ancient Order when Quantomas gets more advanced.

Some Q deadlines would be nice to know ;)

a few more questions for JVC about H4.

How free were the story writers to come up with stories and themes for each campaign/expansion?

Jennifer Bullard shared some maps of Iranese. Fans have shown that several of the campaign maps fits border of the continent map very well. How much effort was put inot making these things fit one another?

Was a world map of Axeoth or the the other continents ever made? Was the entire planet uninhabited or just Iranese, at the time of the Reckoning?

Did you play any HOMM / MM games yourself? What were your impressions?

Well I have already sent the questions, but I can direct their attentions to this thread in case they have time to read some more.
