H3 HD Launched

Unread postby Romanov77 » 31 Jan 2015, 18:07

My fps issues might be related to the fact that my eyes haven't seen Homm3 in ages and they might be spoiled by modern 60 fps gaming.

Were the animation always so "skippy"?

It's most noticeable on windmills and other map animations.

Other than that, I admit that the game looks great, and it's amazing to discover new details on old models.
And with the passing of strange eons, even death may die.

Also, is just my impression, or Christian the Knight has really lost his smartass smug lip twist in the HD version?

I'll buy it when they do AB and SOD as well.

They seem about what they were to me, but HD does make the choppiness more noticeable.

Yeah, after a while that "choppy" feel seems to go away.

Being in a moat isn't that painful.

Anyone know if there will be bug fixes and patching for this game?

I think they can do some small improvements to the game without damaging the old game as it was :p A build all button for example.. And i noticed that you can't reenter buildings without moving your hero in and out:/

I like the game so far! I just wish they can do some improvements with the AI.. And do SoD! Then ill be satisfied :)

They should take advantage of the moment to improve the whole game, not just the graphics.

Hm, isn't this moat-damage-thing from the expansions?

Yeah, I'm sure people would have been unanimously thrilled by any change they might have considered.

It is, at least for Castle town.

No. Creatures in the moat have always taken damage in all versions of the game. That is most true to life. If you are assaulting a castle, you certainly would suffer horrific damages sitting in a moat with all hell raining down on you (molten bronze, tar, arrows, etc.).2005

In early history, there have been few challenges as difficult to overcome as assaulting a castle.

That would be true, except for the fact that it is completely false.

I remember clearly, although not in which version, that I got surprised by being damaged by the moat.

No, I'm sure that they were not. System changed with patches (1.4 maybe also earlier) and with AB before it was little different.

With that I'm not saying that assaulting was easier for every castle, if I remember correctly the differences were with Fortress and Tower. Also Artillery skill and Citadel vs Castle.

I think this game is having a meaning for tablets, otherwise AB was coming with so many crucial (balance) features, that for desktop AB game with old graphics is giving more sense than RoE with any new coat.

From inside AB and RoE are different games. Vanilla RoE could strike learning spell skill bug, negative morale and some others. Whereas AB was famous for its pyramidal Fear. And. And Dragons & Dragon Flies.

Funny picture. AI advance vs Fortress, two hexes wide moat. AI cross one and stays on it, taking damage every turn and carefully not advancing to the most close hex. Another patch removed that. Yes I was praying for AB for a long time. SoD is nothing but AB was revolution.

Unless the moat was lava or some other toxic substance, you'd probably be fine... but if it was lava, I think it would be more than just painful...
