Random map generator has graphics from AB-SoD coded in, the RoE-HD version will crash if unknown graphics.

Not true, Heroes III creatures and buildings were done in 3ds max.

See here:

http://www.phelansykes.com/ Environment section, hover over images until you find rampart/necro towns. Is specified 3ds max and maya.

Hm, what about some cleanup tool that removes those?

Is that possible for them to make a WoG HD version only based on the RoE?

I doubt ubi ever heard of WoG anyway :D

I am indifferent to this HD thing: while the creatures indeed get more contrast, the towns now look artificial and washed. The map adventure radius remains as in vanilla, while the unofficial HD mod, widely used, doubled it. Both WoG and HD mod (for vanilla too) offer better interfaces, easy artifacts and armies handling. It is incomprehensible to me, that after all the work fans did, UBi chooses to release something only increasing graphics contrast. The only guess is that they target ipads only.

Oh, no, I was meaning those who are modding and making WoG, not Ubi, hohoho. Speaking of which, I have never played WoG. :shh:

They did, I'm sure.

There was an older project "Mobile HoMM 2". This seems like that they decided to resurrect this idea under their own baton.

That's good and bad.

There's however little doubt, that existing HD mod will not get a real competition. Reading that carefully, multiplayer, Android, iOS. No new engine, new sets of graphic (only enhanced units - necessary base stone but not a new level), modding support, AI programming, scripting, easy units modelling etc..

No new life, only reskinning. But I can't see what will follow..

They should add a new faction. Then redesign conflux into another new faction.

There is already HD mod, which works both vanilla and wog. And it has feature Ubi could only dream about. (choose template, move armies in one click, move artifacts, double map radius and so on)

btw, they are dishonest in their advertising. They took map adventure sprites from vanilla (64x64 pixels) then compared with battle sprites from "HD" (450x450 pixels). This is lame.

That sure is silly. That Archdevil doesn't even look similar...

What they should have done is make H7 or H8 in 2D; the sprites would be glorious. :proud:

There is more info:

- There is a map editor. :)
- You can play on PC or tablets.
- Multiplayer: both online lobby and local mode.
- 7 campaign maps and about 50 skirmish maps.
- Wide screen compatible.

I am looking forward to trying this thing on my 42" TV. I will review it after that. ;)

Yea, that sure sounds like the standard RoE, except with higher resolution support and also an ARM build.

Maybe they should have based it off VCMI instead. :1

Boy, I had almost forgotten how much I loved that tune. As for the HD Edition: meh, whatever.

Here you have some explanations:

Image

Image
The comparative screenshot that we previously communicated on, compares an HD creature model from the adventure map with a low-res one enlarged by 3 to ease the comparison.

With this screenshot we want to illustrate the quality of this HD remake without betraying the legendary episode from 1999 we all love! We are sorry for the confusion this asset might have brought and we guarantee you that our desire is not to dispraise the original masterpiece but to pay it the tribute it deserves.

I will buy this release just to support continued interest by UBI in maintaining the franchise in all of it's incarnations.

Looks like it might be kinda cool, too.

For my desktop background, I had the old Necropolis town screen. Just now, I updated it to the HD one; I must say that it is absolutely beautiful.
