CoH iPad/iPhone Release; Strategy

Unread postby Kalah » 21 Jan 2013, 09:58

With the upcoming release of Clash of Heroes on iOS (Jan. 24th), this is a good time to be having a look at some strategy. The basic strategy tips were released last week and below is a new video with some more advanced tips - specifically for the Haven faction.

CoH iPad/iPhone Release; Strategy

This is really a great game, with much more depth that people might think initially. There are some good guides on GameFAQS if anyone needs help getting started, the tutorial is rather short and vague at times.
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

Agree on that. Best MM title for many years.

I understand that the purpose of this video is to get people interested, but there is nothing "advanced" about these strategies.

In fact the third strategy (priests only) is a 100% suicide in a multiplayer. Without champion units, you will get absolutely obliterated by a decent player.

Hehe, Irina. That's accent which you cannot mistake in the thousands. :P

Games look superb. Sadly, no time to play.

And it would be even worse against those demi-gods who dominate the leaderboards (on Xbox Live at least).

I can't say for certain, but I have a suspicion that some of the top players on the leaderboards may be cheating. I've read on the steam forums that there is a way to disconnect from a match and your defeat will not be recorded.

CoH is kinda like poker - a lot depends on the units you get initially and when you reinforce. If you're good, you will win often, but not all the time. Because of that 10:1 win:loss ratios are kinda suspicious to me.

Also there is one overpowered hero+unit+artifact combo. They could be abusing it.

In related news, the game is coming to Android as well soon.

What's next, an Atari 2600 version? Now that's something I'd like to see. :)

I wish they would add new significant elements to this game instead of re-releasing this dinosaur over and over.

CoH iPad/iPhone Release; Strategy

I suppose the credo is if it works, don't mess with it, just keep releasing it on new platforms. But yes, new stuff is the next logical step; either that or a sequel.

Um, for Steam there was some new stuff - a DLC with 4 new heroes to use. It was pretty good and did not break the balance between factions. I agree with Kalah, the next logical step would be a sequel.

I'd be surprised if there was any sequel, unfortunately.

Were I the only one who bought it on the Steam christmas sale?

Think it was 5 euro max for it and the DLC 'I am the boss'.
May have even been 3 euro for both.

I've pre-ordered it before it was released on Steam.

I'm new to the ipad and just bought CoH. Am unable to figure how to get into the fallen tree in the hidden grotto, in Sylvan. Am in front, but can't seem to just walk in. Internet info on the ios version is extremely sparse and I can't use DS info like "Press Z to walk into the tree".
