Larry Elmore, the American fantasy artist behind the Dungeons & Dragons covers as well as a host of other illustrations for video games, books and magazines, has started a <a href="/http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/148 ... ickstarter campaign to fund a huge artbook containing most of his work.
Elmore also made the box arts of Might & Magic VI-VIII, so they will probably be included. He is also selling original paintings, and the MM8 painting (30" x 36" oil on masonite) along with several other things will be given to anyone willing to pledge $6,000.

The box illustration for M&M VII was actually done by Boris Vallejo (another great artist) -- Elmore did the cover art for VI and VIII. Nevertheless, Larry Elmore sure is one of the most important fantasy artists of all time, and that artbook is going to be enormous!
When it's out, maybe we should buy one as a present for the art designers and sketch artists at UbiSoft... for studying purposes...

@ Angelspit:
Not even of the old "red box" artwork done by Mr. Elmore? I think it was just amazing. Unfortunately, he wasn't involved in the 3rd and 4th editions of D&D.
@ Marzhin:
Good to hear! Let's move away from Warhammer and Warcraft influences and the hyper detail of Heroes V and VI and let's return to a more traditional fantasy look in the vein of Elmore. That's definitely what I would like to see.
